Really I fail to see the maliciousness in Fischkoepfin's response that prompted such a backlash. Whatever, it must be something in the air today. Why the hostility?

And I don't think my comment implies that this place is just empty conversation. In this case, however, it seems apparent that anything but was not a welcome addition to the thread.

I'll meet lot's of new people and make new friends. That's a good thing.

I'm generally pleased to be flippant and relaxed with people in my social world. I think that's a good thing.

I like to digest, indulge in, take the micky out of, consider, ponder etc etc etc, about things I see, hear and read about. I don't need people to tell me that my replica military jacket has 4 buttons when the real thing only had 3.

For example, the point of my original post here, was............ AN AMUSING PERSPECTIVE ON THE COMPARISON OF THE LACK OF COMMON SENSE IN SOME REAL WORLD ACTIVITIES, AND OF WHAT SOME MAY CONSIDER TO BE RIDICULOUS, 'IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN', 'ON THAT DAY SATAN WILL ICE SKATE TO WORK', TYPE OF SITUATIONS.

Be amused if you will. Post a single emote if it says what you need to say. Say nothing, just read it. Think it to be juvenile. Think it to be deep. Give another example. Smirk, snort, guffaw or ponder. That's great.......

....but please don't assume that I'm delivering some important fact, that needs to be verified with quoted sources and credited authors or whatever. I didn't post it to be corrected or belittled, praised or worshipped, to cause offense or start a fight. I posted it because when I read it I said to myself, "yeah, (smirk), I hear ya. I wonder if anyone else would like to see this". That's all. Nothing more.

The Sad Passing of Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies, (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Panadol, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and l'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone. If you

still remember him pass this on. If not join the majority and do nothing.

Isn't it all so sad? The bit about the Ten Commandments. I can still remember prayer in school. Now it has been removed because not everyone believes in the same religion. Yet the ironic part is that the schools teach about different religions and celebrate them with the students, but yet if a student wheres a shirt saying that they believe in CHRIST, that student will get sent home to change and if they repeat the "offense" then they will get suspended from school! What happened to individual rights?

A woman can be walking into an abortion clinic to have rid her unborn baby legally without it being considered murder, but if someone hits her on her way in and she loses that child, that person that hit her can be charged with murder!

Awww,Chas,I didn`t think you take things at heart this way...you a softy ...but what you`re saying...if people want to assume that you`re delivering an important fact if it was not supposed to sound like that,that needs to be verified with quoted sources and credited authors,if they assume that it needs to be corrected or belittled, praised or worshipped, to cause offense or start a fight just let that be too,and see the funny part of it(not all fights are funny but you can`t stop them anyway) .You can`t stop that happen on internet boards I guess,misunderstandings on the internet little worse than real life still if you look at the bigger picture the same sh**t like real life at the level of emotions...just that here people from many different cultures come together(don`t get me wrong and opinions can be sooooo very different.And some people just suck some days (gee,now I am in trouble again) B) and you cannot change that. Chas (and everyone else), my objective was not to belittle your post or indicate that you should not post or something along those lines. Why would I?

I just happened to have an issue with the bit you posted, and a smiley response wouldn't have gotten that across.

Also, I tried to get some people to think about the idea of common sense. Thinking about things your read is not a bad thing.
