Thanks so much for the review! I have my medical in Toronto on the 16th and I'm pretty nervous! I know i'm a healthy person but I have some strange fear of doctors...

For your immunization records is that yellow pamphlet thing your doctor records in sufficient? It has the address and name of my doctor on it, and every shot i've ever received is recorded inside, but it seems a little informal. What did you bring as proof?

When I called them - they said those records where fine

Date of I-751 = 03/05/2011

NOA Date = 3/08/2011

Biometrics = 04/11/2011

Approved = 09/08/2011

My husband doesn't have any immunization records. He grew up in Nova Scotia in the 60's/70's and was given the immunizations in school and no one has a record of them. He's contacted his parents, the school system and the government there and it appears no one has records before 1977. I noticed Poprocks is waiting on a blood test to prove MMR vaccination and my husband also said that the NS government said he could have a blood test to show what he's been vaccinated for. Do you think this is something he should go do and will they accept it?

Yes... And you should do it now, as it goes to Public Health and takes 2-3 weeks. All they do is test you to see if you have the antibodies to measles, mumps, and rubella. You also need a tetanus shot, but you can get that at ur Dr for free. It helps o book an appmnt with your own doc prior to your medical to get things started, tested or vaccinated... it just prevents undo delays.

The other option is to just get re-vaccinated for MMR right away, no wait... it just depends how you feel about vaccinations... I opted to wait a couple of weeks instead of getting unecessary needles.

I also opted for a Hep A/B shot even though they are not mandatory... my son who is 5yrs old did need that shot as per their requirements.

I guess i'll have to pick up my med package as I did not pay the courier fee... maybe they didn't offer it to me cause they think I live close? I HATE DRIVING INTO THE CITY!!!! :( lol

ps. once the test comes back, your doc faxes it to embassy clinic and they complete your medical package... I spoke to the lady there who organizes it and she said once she gets the fax from my doc next week, she'll call me :)

The easiest route is for him to have his MD test for immunity for all of the required shots. I had all of mine done (covered in Ontario ) and results received within 3 weeks. I have the actual lab reports to take to the medical. I was due for my Tdap booster and had that done at the same time and my MD gave me a hand written confirmation with the date and details of the vaccination. Good luck!

I went to Dr. Seiden and Associates for me medical this morning. I thought I'd write a review because I appreciated reading others' before I went.

I had to be there by 6am because their X-ray technician had to leave early that day. My dad drove with me and we parked in a public lot about 2 small blocks away. It was a $9 flat fee. We were waiting outside of the office by 5:55am, first in line followed by 6 or 7 others. At 6am the receptionist opened the door and let us in.

At the front desk she took our interview letters and directed us to the main waiting room, which was empty. I sat for maybe 5 minutes and then was called by the receptionist; I followed her into a small office. I had a seat and she took my passport, immunization records, and 3 photos. She typed some stuff up, had me sign a consent for the medical, had me pay ($275 plus $50 courier fee) and gave me my receipts and a packet of papers for the medical exam with my passport and immunization records. Then she directed me to sit down in a row of chairs in the hallway by the X-ray room.

There were already 6 people sitting there! I asked and they said they had gotten to the office at 5:30am. Yikes! We waited about 10 minutes and then the first patients were called into the X-ray room. Another 10 minutes later and it was my turn. Everything was very quick- I went into the X-ray room (which was small and had an archaic X-ray machine!), gave the technician my packet, undressed from the waist up, put the paper gown on, and had my x-ray. The technician goes into a little room (I assume a developing room) and told me to get dressed again. By the time I was dressed, she was out again. She gave me my packet back and directed me to another set of chairs in a different hallway.

I waited here for a good 20 minutes until I was finally called into an exam room. Then more waiting. Finally I was called out of the room for blood work. The "lab" is about twice the size of a half-bathroom and packet full of papers and vials etc. Not exactly a modern looking place! The nurse there was quiet but friendly- she had a hard time finding my vein so it hurt a bit, but it was over soon. Then back to the exam room.

I had my height and weight taken and then my blood pressure and pulse- which were high due to my nerves, but that didn't seem to be a concern. The man who did this then left and I waited some more. Finally the nurse told me to undress and then two female doctors or a doctor and a nurse (?) came in. The older lady asked me questions about my health and the younger lady did the physical exam. She did a breast exam, pressed on my stomach, and looked at some scars I have from previous surgeries. Then she felt my feet and looked at my eyes and I was done! The woman who did my physical assured me that everything looked good. I handed in this little form they gave me to the front desk and off I went!

Overall the staff were very friendly even though they were rushing around everywhere. The office is small and sort of run-down or warn, but it seemed clean and was warm. I went in at 6am and was out at 7:50am- under two hours! I think it helped that I was first in line for the group that came at 6am.

Hope this review helps ease someone else's nerves! I was nervous for my appointment, but I think most people are to some extent. I expect my blood results will be fine and then I just have my interview left! Almost there.... :)

Hope,

We were there, in the same office, that same morning!!! We arrived at about 6:30 and didn't leave until almost 11. Glad you were in & out so quickly, we weren't. When we inquired at the front desk, she said it would be about 2. Not hardly. I stayed with my fiance until he was called back to the X-ray room. (That was a veryyyy small hallway to have so many people wait in!) After that, I headed to the Starbucks across the street.

I think it definitely helps to get places early. Duncan said he felt he was in a cattle shoot or an assembly line. Oyyyy.

Glad things went well for you!

He would have received them today, but for some reason there was an MMR booster missing from his records. We drove back to London and went to a walk-in clinic. The doctor there did the booster and signed the yellow immunization record. We had to find a place that would fax (which we did) and faxed the updated immunization record (and the deficiency paper he got earlier that day) back to Dr. Seiden's office in TO. About 5 minutes later, we called to make sure they had received it and that everything was fine. The lady who answered said they had and it was all good. We asked about when he'd get the exam results back, she she said he'd have it 5pm on Thursday. So, hopefully tomorrow when I talk to him, he'll have the packet in hand!

We got everything sent off that same afternoon (checklist and online form) so right now... just waiting to hear about the interview date!

Sort of- they ask you about any hospitalizations right before your physical. I explained the condition I had as a child, the surgeries I underwent, and about how long I was in the hospital. The Doctor wrote down the info on a form.
