Easiest way to put every drug cartel and drug gang out of business is to decriminalize drugs.

No, you would have to legalize and create a legal drug industry

Can't wait for the NASCAR Crystal Meth 500 LOL

A lot of countries pulled cigarette advertising from sporting events to prevent the 'glamorization' of a very toxic substance. There should be similar blocks on other drug advertising, including those bloody purple pills and anything to do with Erectile Disfunction!!!!!!!

There is a total difference between not allowing something because it's not 'right or moral' - I couldn't agree more and educating people to the reality and risks for certain forms of behaviour. The cigarette industry has illustrated just how truthful they want to be, not to mention creating more addictive versions of their product in order to sell more product. Not in the interests of anyone except the coffers of a very few.

Ultimately I'm the owner of my body, and if I want to put cigarettes, alcohol, or arsenic in it, I should have that right. Phillip Morris is not forcing cigarette smoke into people's lungs, they're doing that voluntarily.

So you don't agree with regulating any drugs? Just whatever goes, goes and if you happen to get something toxic too bad so sad? You don't agree with warning labels either?

You see my point is, in case you missed it, that putting these things into your body knowing exactly what these things are is one thing, putting things in your body thinking that they are just a bit of fun and safe, quite another.

The job of monitoring one's own safety rests ultimately on the individual.

How can I be sure that an automatic dishwasher that I'm considering purchasing is a good deal or is safe? Since there is no Federal Dishwasher Administration to tell me exactly which one I must purchase, I would have to rely on the reviews of other people who own the machine, right? Perhaps if I want further assurance, then I could purchase a detailed dishwasher review by a company that I deem reputable, such as Consumer Reports. Ultimately, there is absolutely no reason that such research and review companies couldn't arise on the free market for things such as drugs or other potentially harmful substances. So the arguement that there would be no warning, research, or review of substances absent the FDA regulation, really doesn't hold any water.

You can't exactly create an addictive washing machine. Peer review works for certain goods, sure, but even then there are safety standards with electric products. I wouldnt feel particularly safe plugging in my brand new appliance not knowing if the wiring had attained a minimum standard. Perhaps you would be one of the wiling experimenters?

I don't see how guarding the border will help cities like Phoenix?? From straw buyers of firearms in Phoenix to a 3 hour distance to the Mexican border, it doesn't look like this "Overspill" problem can be won by merely guarding the border areas of Bisbee and Nogales.

With enough guards, achieving saturation?

Plus what A.J said. There simply have to be some standards or finding out about products just becomes too hazardous for one's health.

I wasn't comparing dishwashers to drugs, but merely illustrating that such a reputable company(s) could arise in the free-market and do the job of the FDA with drugs/food, and even the job of the UL listing with electrical standards similar to how it's accomplished with regular consumer products through review services.

Removing the wasteful bureaucracy would not remove the regulation, it would merely transfer it to the free-market. Trial lawyers will still be sniffing out those billion-dollar settlements, and medical professionals will still have to worry about malpractice, so these are just two of the free-market regulations that would remain. But surely some form of accredited "seal of approval" could arise in the free market to certify drug safety.

Based on the constant failures of the FDA, they wouldn't last a minute if competition were allowed. Therefore, we could actually attain better drug safety and regulation absent the FDA and other government cash whores.
