If drugs are legalized, there would be no need to smuggle them in from anywhere. They could be grown where ever the climate allows, instead of only where corrupt, bribed foreign governments allow.

There would be no profit or business for drug cartels, drug dealers, drug gangs, or even the Taliban.

So you agree that there would be some sort of regulation, like tobacco or alcohol?

No, I don't think central government regulation is necessary at all. What for?

It is for alcohol and tobacco, why not drugs? They are all controlled substances to some degree. I can't make a batch of moonshine and sell it legally without somet ype of license, how can I expect to grow weed in my garden and sell it as I wish? Minors can't by cigs or alcohol, I would imagine the same would apply to weed.

Well, drugs aside, we should at least ban hand grenades. Maybe that'll stop them from being used in criminal attacks.

Yeah, and nobody agreed or disagreed. Perhaps maybe they knew it wasn't worth arguing as it was a sacrcastic post to begin with. After all, aren't hand grenades already illegal?

It was the kind of post that would be like saying, "maybe we should ban selling guns to law-abiding Americans because that would stop Mexicans from illegally killing each other over illegal drugs with illegally-obtained guns." Sarcasm indeed. No wonder there were no takers.

I guess I should throw that idea I had about people being allowed to wear explosive vests and dead man's triggers - out the window...

Mutually assured destruction seemed a good deterrent during the Cold War with nuclear weapons (in which case surely we should allow Iran to have them), I don't see why it wouldn't work on a smaller scale.
