I am curious as to why people need a car to drive 1/4 of a mile to buy cigarettes.

In LA this is your chance to run your car at top speed.

After commuting from Orange County to LA for over a year and a half (over 100 miles a day during the week), I've gotten used to it. The traffic most of the time is not too bad, and I now have a GPS, so when the freeway is really bad, I can find alternate routes.

That's insane! Why don't you take the Metro-Link, or whatever they call that train in SoCal?

There is no single line that goes from my starting point to work, requiring me to transfer and the final line is still several miles from my work. I seriously looked into it and it would next to impossible to do. I'm able to drive on the 405 almost the entire way and there's a few of us who were carpooling. On a good day, it only takes me about 48 minutes to get to work, which is a reasonable commute time. My last employer was only about 10 miles from home, but sometimes with traffic, it would take me about the same amount of time. Freeways are awesome when the traffic is flowing.
