Hey everybody! I have some questions that need answering.

I recently came to Pakistan and got married and now I'm intending to file the K-3 visa for my hubby. Now I would like to stay with my husband until he gets his visa, so is it possible for me to file the application from PK and if so, what do I do? Do I file it through the Embassy or directly to the lock box? I'd like to be sure of what I'm doing before I take any step.

Well, I have plenty of questions, but I'll wait till this one is answered. Thanks ahead of time, everyone.

You can file for a CR1 directly in Pakistan, only if you have legal presence there and the US consulate there allows it. I'm sure there would be information about it in the link above labeled "Embasy Info".

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Unless you want hubby sitting around watching soap operas for four months after your wedding instead of working, you probably don't want a K3 visa for him. Check with the Embassy's website about their requirements for filing a petition for a CR1 visa directly with them. Generally, you need to be at least present in the country six months before doing so. Otherwise yes, you start by filing the I-129F petition with the lock box address in Chicago but use a courier and the substitute courier address. If you do this, the petition needs to show your mailing address, in the USA, on the forms inside whether you are "visiting" abroad or not.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
