Sneding DS-230 without birth certificate and police report.

I want to send off my DS-230 for my husband, however, I do not have all the documents. I have everything but the police certificate. Also, on his birth certificate there is a typo. He has gotten the typo fixed, however, it is going to take 1 month for me the receive the new birth certificate. And it is going to take 2 months to receive the police certificate. Clearly, I do not want to delay the process any further. We will have the birth certificate as well as police certificate during the interview. I wanted to know, if it is possible for NVC to close a case without birth certificate and police certificate, if we request that they will be provided during the visa interview. Is there any possibility of that? It used to be like this till only recently, all the original documents used to be provided during the interview. Does anyone have any personal hands on knowledge about this. I do not want to delay the process any further, when they will not even look at the information until the visa interview date. Also, my husband is in Bangladesh and I'm a USC.

The mistake on his birth certificate is:

On his birth certificate the typo is it says birth date in digits: 01/01/1986

and in words: First January ninety hundred ninety six.

It should say ninety hundred eighty six.

If they catch it they'll send you a RFE. If not have hubby take them to the interview.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

it's ok.

they'll send you a checklist of the missing documents. you can send it to them if you completed all. you just need to submit that ASAP.

I know I need to submit it ASAP, but it's going to take 2-3 months to receive it which is why I wanted to know, instead of giving it to NVC, can we present them at the interview? Will the case be closed without them? Can we send a letter along with the DS-230 letting NVC know that the rest of the documents will be provided during the interview?

One of my police checks got lost and I had to wait for it too. From what I was told it will make no difference wether you send it now or wait as if you send it incomplete you will surely get a RFE. THen your case just sits there incomplete. It does not get you any further ahead, you don't get an ealier date or anything and you may also:

1) have to pay to send 2 sperate courier evelopes instead of 1

2) have more chance of them losing something

I was told to wait and send it as a complete package so that is what I did.

AFAIK, you won't receive an interview appointment if all the required documents wasn't submitted.

If you don't have the required documents with the DS-230 when you submit to NVC, you are very likely to get an RFE, and what you submit will remain in an incomplete status until you send the items they request in the RFE to complete your file. Many people have submitted incomplete DS-230 packages and received RFE.

What you can do to speed up the process is wait for the birth certificate, submit that with the DS-230, and submit a scan of the Police Certificate. And then have your husband take the actual Police Certificate to the interview. You can call NVC and confirm if they will accept the scan of the Police Certificate, that is what I submitted for my wife to save some time as well.

Good Luck!!

Well,

Since I do understand her eagerness to make this case complete as early as possible, one thing that u can do about ur BC, write down a letter to the NVC explaining the matter, and it seems more justified when it shows that ur husband can't be 12/13 years old, rather date of birth more matches with him which is 01/01/86.

and for PCC, best thing u can do is to send them a scanned copy. I understand that, it takes a month or two to acquire the PCC, but all I came to know from many of us @ VJ that u can't get ur case completed without submitting these papers.

One problem is that, u might have prepared ur self for the VJ Short Cuts (Linche, James and others), but unfortunately u missed the Step 0 which u should had done before getting the NOA2, as a consequence, u r now facing such problems.

Good Luck

Sonia
