So the Consulate asked my fiancee to bring my "original" Divorce DECREE to the interview. The problem is that none of the divorce paperwork is titled "DECREE."

Can someone PLEASE give me a detailed description of what this Decree looks like?

Her interview is in 4 days, and I have to overnight the correct paperwork to her if I have sent her the wrong thing.

Thanks for ANY help!

The best thing to do in your case is to call the lawyer who handled the divorce and ask it you are not sure as each state is a little different.

Well, I am not certain what your divorce papers look like from your state, but mine is just the papers from the courthouse that ordered my divorce. It is stamped by the clerk of the court and signed by the judge that ordered the divorce. Hope this helps.

Thx, I totally freaked out there. My apologies.

I guess I didnt realize it was different per state.

I am now pretty sure that she has the correct paperwork.

Its called a "Judgement" and it has the Judges signature (more of a STAMP really...) and the court certifications. It also says our divorce is granted. That must be the "Decree" for IL.

Each state calls it something different. For example if you were to get a copy of your divorce online they would send you a Divorce Decree. This is a summary of the divorce and looks more like a 1 page receipt.
