Hi everyone! I came to US from Spain on a tourist visa to visit my family and boyfriend. I was luckily given six months to stay here. Just recently (Valentine's Day), my boyfriend proposed to me on a beautiful beach in California. We're planning to get married soon, but I'm still not sure whether I want to stay in US indefinitely because I am doing my graduate studies in Spain. However, if I decide to stay in US indefinitely and do the AOS thing, do you think it is necessary to get a lawyer to do this paperwork? I hope you can share your experiences with me regarding this matter. Thank you so much, guys! :D

no, you can do it yourself.

check the guides above and see for yourself.

If you plan on doing your studies in Spain, then you may not want to stay here, because once you do the AOS, you will have to stick around as you wait for the paperwork to go through!

You can get married, then return to Spain for your studies, then he can apply for a CR-1 for you.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
