hi everyone, im in the process of filing a I-130 for my wife. i just graduated a couple months ago and had no prior work history. so i never file for tax the past 3 years. i just starting working last month and my salary is well over the poverty guideline. is that going to be a problem when im filing the I-864? will the consulate officer look into that at the interview? thanks for viewing

I-864 requires a tax return or an explanation why one was not filed.

You can always file a ZERO return for last year, and atach a copy of the ZERO return to the I-864, along with current income data like copies of pay stubs, and employer letter.

Many in your case simply get a joint sponsor.

Moving this to NVC forum, I-864 is requested at the NVC stage of Immigrant visa cases.

If you can proof that you have an income higher than 125% of poverty line you will be ok. You can use a letter from your employer saying what is your salary and how long you have been with them also you can use a few of the last paystubs that you received from your employer as proof of your income. But since you don't have any previous job I'll recomend to find a co-sponsor just to be sure.
