Having been royally scr#wed by Secure Courier I need to make some time up, any one ever had the experience of picking up their passport from the USE London? Or read about anyone else being able to do so?

I remember somebody asking this question awhile back in the interview thread and looked for the post because they asked at the embassy. This is the post, but a little different situation from you because they wanted to pick up the day of the interview like some countries allow.

Villaspurs was the poster.

We asked about the visa delivery time and if we could just come pick it up later that day, and the answer was a resounding no. We didn't ask this of the SMS person, though, so he/she might have a different answer. We paid a bit extra for before 10:00 AM delivery, and we just got a text saying it will be delivered tomorrow (two days after the interview). Woo hoo!

I would try real hard because if it took so long to get back to the Embassy, it will take equally as long to get back to you. They are just a courier and not FedEx overnight. If you're flying out of London, could you change the delivery with SMS to a hotel near the airport. Of course if London doesn't release the passport to the courier Monday, it's not much guarantee and I don't trust those SMS people after our runaround with them.

What happened to you with them?

Well, let's see...I was in UK with Nick so was going to be home to receive the visa.

Interview on a Wed.

Never got a text so called SMS on Monday morning.

They had no record and said the receipt number on our paper wasn't even a valid number.

I kept after them so they were able to find it by address and said delivery would be Monday.

Sat and waited all day with no delivery.

Called around 5 PM and they said the truck broke down before noon, so it would be Tueday.

Called early Tuesday and was promised a one hour window. Called all day just checking on them. LOL

Visa finally delivered late Tuesday and well past the promised time.

So it was 6th day after interview just to get to Oxford and never got a text.

That's terrible :( I think I remember reading that now.

For me they took four days to get from Edinburgh to London?????

Now I think I'm screwed and going to miss my oh so lovely awesome deal but so not-refundable ticket!!

Yeah that doesn't sound good. Took them 24 hours to get my visa to me, I lived in Berwick Upon Tweed. Once the visa leaves the embassy, it goes to a sorting place in Northampton. The packet is then sent on its way to wherever the next day. They have a sorting depot in Edinburgh too. I had problems with a concert ticket.. The day before the show, it hadn't turned up. I went to the depot made allot of noise, they were not too pleased as me turning up, but if I hadn't done that, I would not have got my ticket.

I had no problem with my visa thankfully. But yeah SMS are a bunch of cowboys.

Hope you get sorted soon.
