Perhaps we should just let the whinefest continue until Obama has had enough time to enact his policies. Then when we, most likely, see that he doesn't in fact create a welfare state, or a big brother state (that we already have thanks to recent administration politics), it will be eerily reminiscient of how some whined on the campaign trail about Obama being X, Y, and Z just to score fear points.

It's getting too late even to whine. Obama has already the government to spending billions on things which have nothing to do a stimulus package. His goal of universal health care is a fine example. You're right that the welfare is already here but there's little history of the government cutting programs. Obama promised he'd cut waste and fraud and has cut nothing that I know of.

The anti-Bush people wanted others to oppose his policies and that was ok because it's nature to have some political opposition. Now have Obama and there's concerted effort to silence any talk about how billions of dollars are being spent. It's Un-American to hope disasterous economic policies fail so we can pursue a different course of action.

Take a page from the Dem playbook. The GOP should shut up and support Obama no matter what he says or does and then later recant claiming Obama duped them with phony economic projections.

Well I see not even 24 hours pass and you are already failing at paraphrasing someone.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Live with the fact that he was the Republican nominee.:P

Like I told Danno.

Whinefest and all... it really IS too early to cry foul.

Maybe. Maybe it's just bad luck on Obama's part. It won't be the first time a commander walks into a situation that he is not responsible for, but will surely hang for. Good, or bad, he owns the economy now, and he wanted the job. Maybe he can make chicken salad out of chicken chit, but the numbers are out there, and things are going to get worse, much worse.

I am just pissed that I may have to make some decisions that I was hoping to put off for a few more years. I have not been happy about any major party nominee for President since 1992.

I hope he fails when it comes to universal health care.

We actually have a form of free healthcare, not sure who is paying for it, either the feds or the state, but our governor is claiming it's one of the major causes of our budget deficit. Healthcare providers have to service it's beneficiaries at a much lower rate, so have to increase rates to those who are paying for health care. For those that are, it's double jeopardy, much higher taxes, and much greater health insurance rates. A lot of the beneficiaries are illegals that somehow have eligible babies that automatically become USC.

It's called Medicaid.

Somehow it doesn't seem right that a person that goes to night school, works their can off, misses sleep at night to not only have to pay greater health insurance rates, but additional taxes as well while others are laying around, doing nothing or having a good time.

Even St. Paul came out against this when early Christian communities were formed with some living off the fat of the lamb. He said, no work, no food.

Yeah... but you can't say that you didn't see your personal choices coming.

I personally think that the whinefest is what IS creating a good deal of confusion about what Obama is doing and what he will do. That is part of the equation as well.

Well I see not even 24 hours pass and you are already failing at paraphrasing someone.

And you're still unable what to say you're referring to. Try using quotes sometime. It's not that hard. Look at almost any my posts to see how it's done.

Didn't you ever have an English teacher tell you aren't supposed to make your message unclear to your reader? I know you're you're not a dumb person but some your posts leave a lot to be desired.

Beyond all the rhetoric and spin, there are some real numbers, and the numbers are staggering. The efforts to end the cycle of boom and bust have created this situation, and I am afraid not much can be done to prevent the collapse of the world's monetary systems. There is just not enough money left to prop up the world economy, and creditors, like Korea and China are having second thoughts about lending any more money. Oil revenues are disapearing already, due to diminshed demand. It is not going to be pretty. It will get nasty. And I have no clue where to go to ride it out.

It is pretty scary. Don't let fear ruin your life or turn you into an obsessive nutjob though.

However... looking a little closer (beyond the crassly exaggerated and faithfully dishonest claims from the whinefest) at the proposals cynically called irresponsible and wasteful... we may yet see another outcome based on *gasp* changing methodologies and production to meet present demands, and improving ourselves in the process.

If the Republicans had better ideas and proposals, then McCain would be president now.

There is the problem, we thought we had a choice between continueing Bush's failed economiic police, or voting for someone who proposed to change direction. Who knew what we really had was a Hobson's choise.

No sh*t. As an independent in TX I could vote in either primary. I voted in the Republican primary, but not for McSellout. He was at the very bottom of my list of candidates. It disgusted me that he got the Republican nomination. I still believe that we would have a Republican president today if Mit was the party choice. As a conservative voter it was obvious the Dims were not even in the running for my vote because they don't even try to run even a centrist candidate.

As far as change with Obama...for people with short memories it is just a return to failed policies of the past. Same old sh*t. It's a change from Bush, but...

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Anyone else... as in other voices in your head or is there a secret OT club where you openly discuss other people's posts?

I could say 'inquiring minds want to know' but then I'd be BSing just like you.

You could start by correctly writing your response though.

Fear don't bother me. Inconvenience does. Maybe the new Prez is the right man at the right time in the right place. But we still have Nancy and Harry there to continue to muck things uo for him for at most two more years, and that is an even scarier thought. :girlwerewolf2xn::goofy:

Yes that may be the case. They may get their hides at their constituencies saved if things start to improve above the inconvenience level... but do put it all into perspective. What could be an inconvenience for us may still be a glorious improvement for others that can't aspire to have elected officials trying to improve the social status of all... not just a select few at the upper crust- which sadly has come to become a defacto mantra of the neo-con branch of the Republican Party and its mode of legislating. Of course... the semantics are in helping all Americans reach their individual potential... ala Rush... but we all know that is more BS.
