If you want sombody to read the legislation, you might as well get the links right, for the conference report as passed:

http://www.house.gov/billtext/hr1_legtext_cr.pdf

http://www.house.gov/billtext/hr1_legtext_crb.pdf

http://www.house.gov/billtext/hr1_cr_jes.pdf

http://www.house.gov/billtext/hr1_cr_jesb.pdf

Somewhere around 1500 pages in total.

Cool I'm sure our resident liar has read the entire amount.

(The links are for the House text, the single link I provided comes from OPG.)

My link is what was passed by both houses in the final form. All revenue bills must begin in the house and that is why the hr designation. My link is the total work product, including the legislative language, and accompaning analysys.

The link you provided is the enrolled bill, what the president actually signs. Your link is what results after the clerks make all the corrections in language and punctuation, to make the bill easier to read.

Yes, it is.

An honest thanks for the flashback to civics.

That is the crux of it... the 407 page version is the final product... what sets policy. Hence... its substance that can be looked at line by line with obvious opinions to go along with it.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I can't understand the 'wanting to fail'. Either Obama is duly elected, he's an American just like any other politician and his policies are no less American than anyone else's or he's not and someone better go overthrow the government and give it back to some 'true Americans'.

Obama's policies will never fail because there's plenty of excuses coming. He'll blame others that the stimulus wasn't enough, the states blew the money, or the "greed" of the American people. Anyone questioning his plan is unpatriotic and they need to shut up.

They are hoping that those who voted for Obama will be so scared that they don't do it again.

Obama voters were already scared and angry under Bush but hoping voting for an unknown candidate with unknown views would save us all.

They have to want some level of failure as any level of success is going to show that the things they have talked down and villified are, strangely, not that terrible after all and people might just vote for more of the same.

Obama's the one who talked the economy down and now he's playing savior during his speech before Congress. Obama and the Dems can maintain their majority status by lowering economic expectations and saying they looking out for the the downtrodden and punishing the wealthy who caused the current mess with their greed.

Yes, and no. The enrolled bill is not the complete story. Many of the fine details are found in the report language, that accompanies the enrolled bill.

Yep. And what we can criticize in the end isn't even the bill's language. It will be the action that comes about from it. And that has not happened unless you believe you can somehow see the future- which apparently some here can do. No crystal ball needed.

Anyway... we are getting into too much of an interesting discussion here, for which I heartily thank you for... but we need to bring some whining back too.

The money is being spent already here in the San Francisco Bay Area. About a half billion dollars worth of transportation projects are being funded this week. I think I posted that list somewhere last week.

Darn transportation projects ruining America!!!! :protest:

I do see where some of that money can go straight to the can of corruption... and I do remember hearing things about what would happen to said individuals if they were caught.

What's the punishment? Obama will name and shame them? How will getting pork projects in a state or district hurt a public official? If that is the case Sen. Byrd would have been gone decades ago.

I can think of corruption cases of public officials being arrested, arraigned, tried, and sentenced on Federal charges.
