Enjoy!

I'm just curious how that book divides Obama as the only president that was backed by the media. Honestly I hope he does a great job, but I know that a chimp with a learning disability will do better then bush.

And you will wait forever, like you always do. He/she never backs up anything. Justs keeps on talking in circlles. Like the kid that always repeated everything you said to irritate you.

Honestly I hope he does a great job, but I know that a chimp with a learning disability will do better then bush.

Actually just waiting to get some details about ARRA that makes some Republican's squirm (other than hearing about it from Rush and Co.)

The actual bill is here in 407 pages of text that hasn't been discussed much anywhere in OT:

All these things have happened and will happen again. Which means that sadly, woe unto us that think we can have an intelligent discussion about issues if 'the other side' refuses to participate.

Participation begins with preparation, but you think that is too much to ask and refuse to do it. So why whine about a situation you are responsible for?

That makes me fit in well here.

Why would you want to fit in here? You are superior to all of us here with your intelligence and wealth and what not.

I took a test once and it said I was republican however I have never voted for one. The very first time I could vote I voted Ralph Nader. I don't even bother voting anymore. I tried to do a mail in ballot this election but they didn't send it out to me until after the polls were closed which I thought was a little inconvenient.

I'm still slightly ofstruck by the amount of people on the board that would have rather seen either McCain or (If it was possible) bush keep office just because of their republican standings. Time will show, if you want to blaim the economy at it's present on Obama go ahead but it will fall on either def ears or other people that want reassurance that they are still right. (Oh God please let there be a chance)

I htink the republicans are at this point because they simply do not have a viable idea about what to do. If you don't have a workable policy, what can you do? Well, try to shoot holes in the other guy's policy.

The republicans are lost in the desert and they better find their Moses if they hope to retain any semblance of reality.

Yet another thread that should deal with some serious problem that ends up in a bashing session, shame on you all.

The key word here is "problem" many of us are experiencing the effects of this problem, inflation, lost retirement funds, layoffs.

In attempting to quote facts, it's impossible to come up with accurate numbers, but the key problem seems to be a shortage of money, how much is anybodies guess. But on the bright side of things, doesn't seem to be a shortage of goods that money can buy, the stores are overloaded with goods, the new car and RV dealers are running out of space to park new vehicles, can't even find a space to park to look at some. Roaming through realtor.com, millions and millions of homes are on the market. Certainly no shortage of gasoline.

Step son reported that six months before we went to Venezuela, the grocery store shelves were empty, an opposite situation where you have money, but nothing to buy. They did have some food on the shelves when we were there, but the stock in the malls was still at a low. Wife said that has happened many times since Chavez took over, at least we do not have that problem here. But do have a shortage of money.

I do not believe that all this money was taken to a dump someplace and burned, but I feel it was stolen from us and without money, we cannot have jobs, I feel that is the problem. But in no position to prove that. If it looks, walks, and talks like a duck, it is a duck kind of thing. More and more reports are coming out about how a very few stole this money from us, not in a position either.

Man, what I could have done with the money that I just sent to the feds and the state over Christmas, but they claim they are broke, and also claim they are providing me with services that I need. The only service I am seeing is being legally robbed blind. That is a problem. With that money I sent, could have easily paid cash for a brand new vehicle and a nice one at that.

So what's the cure, Obama feels that by borrowing money to get the economy rolling again may be a temporary move, and we could argue back and forth if this will actually work. It will if jobs come back or help a little, remember, we still have lots of stuff here to spend it on. But if steps are not taken to find out who stole this money, we will be in a worse position then we are now in. It's not good to hear that only 40% of our hard earned cash was actually used to rebuild Iraq in non-military aid, where did that other 60% go? And why did we wreck Iraq in the first place just to get one guy?

We have problems, we know that, but exactly what are these problems, and who caused them? That is what our government has to do, and unfortunately, it is our government that only has the power to do something about it. We have a republic form of government, maybe that is the problem. But you have to find out what the problem is first before you can come up with a solution.

It's hell when you feel powerless except for writting a letter to your congressman. One thing you do know, your congressman isn't hurting.

But let's forget all this stuff, it's more fun to bash each other, and even more fun to blame someone. America has become a country where blame is key, but that doesn't solve the problem either.

I really don't understand this whole thing with Americans being against Universal Health Care. I'm an American living in the UK. I think the good points of Universal Health Care far out weigh the bad. Yes the waiting lists for anything are long. But if you are employed you can purchase private health care still. My husband works for Seagate Technologies, an American company. He purchases private health care through his employer. We have AXA. For my husband, my son and daughter and I it costs around 512GBP a YEAR for private health care. I get to see specialist without waiting for months. But for your normal trips to the doctor(GP) it is the NHS who pays for that. It really is great if you can still purchase private health care. And it would be a whole lot cheaper on the companies to pay for part of the insurance. Because these private health care companies wouldn't be sucking the life out of people.

My grandfather had a heart attack in January. His room alone costs $98,000 after medicare and insurance they still owe $38,000. FOR JUST HIS ROOM. They are retired teachers. I mean for fucks sake that's about a whole years salary for one of them.
