Hello all,

My Fiancee said that they told her at the Hall (municipal bldg) in Bislig, that she would need to get a Cenomar before we apply for the marriage cert.

Is a Cenomar still needed to marry in the Philippines? I thought I read it was no longer a requirement. But I guess we will need it anyway when we apply for the Visa,

Where would she go to apply for a Cenomar (she lives in Bislig)? How long does it take to obtain? I am flying there in two weeks to get married there, I hope we can get it by then.

Thanks much

Steve

Yea, I had ran accross that website, but wasn't sure if I could apply online and have the cenomar mailed to her in the Philippines. Or, if I would even be allowed to apply for her. I thought it might be quicker and easier if she went to the NSO or whwere-ever it is that she has to apply, and apply in person.

I just am not sure where she would have to go, being she lives in Bislig.

Thanks much!

she should plan on a 2day trip to Davao where she can take care of the NSO and NBI and Passport all at the same time. The police clearance she can do in her city. Also the NBI and NSO if they have offices in her place if not she can do those in Davao.

Hi,

I have worked with NSO before, and have a few friends from the Civil Registrar, and as of 2007, yes the CENOMAR is necessary for someone to get married in the Philippines. Aside from the CAPACITY TO MARRY document which you as USC would need to present to the CIVIL REGISTRAR upon application. These are some of the documents that will be of advantage to both parties, so both of you can be assured that each one is single and is capable to marry.

I forgot what is the nearest NSO-CRS outlet she can go, but she better hurry because this document from the last time I remember will take days or even weeks.

Regards. God bless you on your journey.

I think having to have CENOMAR to marry or not depends on your local civil office. We were not required when we married.

Also I ordered NSO 2 BCs from ecensus.com and had them delivered to my wife in PI. Cost quite a bit and took a month.

LOT cheaper to get at a local NSO office.

The way things are now both K1s and CR/IRs should apply for CENOMAR or CEMAR for their USEM interviews.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Immediately upon hitting the ground in PH I went to Cebu to the US Consular Office there (basement of Waterfront Hotel) to get the certification that I was able to marry (provided Divorce Decree). Then we got the marriage license through the local Municipality. It had to be "posted" for so many days before the marriage (? 10 or 12 days I forget).

Then we BOTH actually got the CENOMAR through the NSO office in Iligan City. Don't know why but they said I needed one too, not just my Pinay wife.

All this was done to complete some prescribed timeline of when we had to have the marriage license so many days before the actual wedding. Then we got married and the Judge provided us with an original of the signed Marriage Certificate/Contract. Then a few months later we got the NSO version of the marriage certification.

That's all I know.

Steve, you will also be required to get a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage at the US Embassy before you can apply for the marriage certificate at her Local Civil Registry (city hall). There is a 10 working day wait before you can get married as mentioned by Eric.

Ya that's it "Legal Capcity to Contract Mariage". That is what I went to Cebu for at the Consular Office. Did not have to go all the way back to Manila to the Embassy to get it.
