Thank you all for your warm welcome!!!!!! This is the first site I've been on that I feel like all the people on board are in the same trench together. (yes, I tend to use miltary terms alot - habit). I feel a great unity and brotherhood (and sisterhood) here. I feel very much at home here.

Everyone knows that when people are in the same "trench" together, alot is understood by all.

As far as the letters go......Ekaterina and I have pretty much split the 500 emails ( 250 and 250 )......I can honestly say the out of my 250......225 have been minimum of 4 pages each. What do I find to talk about? Well, when she sends me a response to my previous letter, ( I initiated the letter number system....so that we can tell if one of our letters has been lost within cyberspace) ie, we will write, " I have recieved your letter number 225, I shall answer it now".......when we do this over and over again.....we just type like we are talking in a conversation. Yes, I have repeated some things about a hundred times but she doesn't care....she tells me that she will always love to hear my thoughts and desires.

Are there sexual fantasies?........of course there are.....but at around the 400th email we both decided to not continue to speak about all of our desires......this way we can still have the sense of "surprise" on our wedding night. The benefit that we both received from telling to each other what some of our desires are, gives us both a foundation to know where to start. Trust me, we aren't going to waste time to get to know each other from square one the first night.............we uhmmm,,, kinda of past that hurdle already!!!!!!! (L)

While the high temperature in Russia was 0 degrees!!!!!!!!!! which reminds me......I was astounded at the way the Russians regulated the temp in their apartments.....In my hotel the heat was on 24/7......after a couple of rounds of ........wrestling yah.......lets call it that..........championship wrestling between the American champ and the Russian champ (LOL) .........all the Russian people do to cool off the room was to open the windows!!!!!!!!!!! This blew my mind. I would look out the window at the hundred or so floors of apartments, and I would see many windows open with the temp at zero!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boy, those Russians sure love their wrestling!!!!!!!!!!! (lol) :innocent:

Anyway.........I never run out of things to say. She wants to know all about America, my family, the kids, my childhood, and on and on and on and on....... I hate  this computer with a passion. :crying:

I am so tired of typing letters to her while only able to look at her photos........But when I get home, the first thing I do is run to my computer and read her letters and then I respond with mine. :) Hey, I'm a guy.....guys need visual stimulation.....with lots of hugging and touching......remember!!!!! I will not admit to ever kissing the computer screen!!!!! Nobody can prove it either!!!!!

Anyway.........it's good to talk with people who completely understand what frustration and heartache means.....I look forward to reading all the posts.......

odd concept but ... stop talking about fantasies! through our separation, sex was not the main topic of our discussions. why tell your fiance(e) everything or vice versa? wouldn't you rather discover first hand what really sets them on fire?? instead of thinking 'oh yeah, she said she really loves it when someone ....' no offense but no two people are alike in the bedroom ... what a girl has done to you man to be able to be reproduced or what someone has done to her you can't do.

Ditto. My husband and I had a long distance relationship for 4 years. We sure as heck talked about every subject under the sun. Talk about what kind of movies and tv shows you like to watch, your goals for life, where you see yourself in 5, 10, 40 years, what you expect in a life partner, who's going to do what house hold chores, who sleeps on what side of the bed, morning person or night person, favorite sport, favorite weekend activity, favorite food, world politics, what things are like in your neck of the woods, favorite books, childhood memories, asperations for kids, family members, dream vacation, cultural differences, the list is endless.

Discuss things that will be the foundation of your relationship once you're actually together. The sex talk can be fun, but hashing out the details of who does dishes and who scrubs the toilet will solve a lot more headaches that are bound to come in the future.

First of all welcome to VJ!!! (F)

Discuss things that will be the foundation of your relationship once you're actually together.

I agree, that's what Charles and I did and still do, we talked about every little thing about ourselves. We decided to get married after knowing everything about each other and finding out we have a lot in common and there would be no surprises. I doubt it's the same as marrying someone you had more of a phisical relationship. Of course we don't know every single thing about each other, that's impossible, but most of them, enough to judge if we're getting in a relationship that's going somewhere or if the ship can sink anytime.

Would you like to find out after married that she has a gambling problem for example or that she can't manage money she spends all her money in clothes instead of paying the bill, or she find out that you are a pig that cleans the house twice a year and still it's only superficial? And those are just small examples, there are worse things.

I believe talking is VERY important, i would never agree to marry someone (which is a life commitment, at least for me) if i didn't know his character.

Oh, a question: do you only use e-mail to communicate, don't you use a instant messenger like yim, msn, aol? What about webcams? :P

 Emails are nice, but instant messanger programs come closer to mimicing real life conversations. Throw in a webcam and you can learn your partner's body language. Throw in a mic, then you can talk in real time. It's almost like sitting across the table from the other person.
