my husbands EAD expires on April 15, 2009. When we moved we sent out the AR-11 and did the online change of address but the information was apparently not recieved and we just had to re-mail the AR-11. So we now have to renew the EAD and I noticed that there is an online electronic file for the I-765. However, I am a little apprehensive now, because the change of address was never recieved. My question is, has anyone used the e-filing for renewing the EAD and if so how were the results? We need to get this taken care of as fast as possible since he only has about about 6 weeks or so.

Thanks for any advice you wonderful people can give.

wow...thanks for the quick reply. I didnt' realize we had to send in passport photos again. I thought for a renewal it would be paper application only.

Thanks so much..I guess we will have to grab our pens and paper work again..what a pain....lol

My husband had to refile so we've been down this path ourselves.

You better get on this soon. It's going to take about another 90 days to receive his new card. If his card expires 4/15, he's REALLY LIKELY have a gap in time where he legally should not work.

uhhgg...I totally forgot about the 90 day thing. one more question though..when your husband renewed what did he put for status? The first time we applied my husband was a fiance K1 but now we are married..do I put the spouse of j-1? I'm not sure where we fall in that category...if you know?

Thanks again...So much

I'd have to dig out our papers and they are in the basement. It's late and it's cold...................

I'm pretty sure we completed it the way we did on the first go round. There was no reason not too. There is no status change for the applicant until the greencard is approved.

Hi Debby1,

I suggest when you file the EAD extension, you should mail it. You cannot attached the required documents if you do it electronically. You may need to attached 2x2 pictures, copy of the mailer (from your first issued EAD), copy of the EAD (back to back) and there may be more. I would also suggest you read the instruction for the filing very carefully as you may need to attached a filing fee depending on the category.

You should have applied 90 days before the expiry, because the process is not fast. The USCIS does not care if the expiry of the EAD is already close. There may be a scheduled biometrics again for this.

Again, I am sharing based from experience. But, this might not be true for everyone. Each service center varies from the other. Others, processed fast, while others are so slow.
