Not defending this woman in any manner, but don't like the idea that our laws are going far beyond breaking any traffic regulations.

There was a traffic violation. The baby should be in a car seat, in the back seat

Saludos,

Caro

See interview in video on link.

What gets me the most is she doesn't seem to grasp that she did anything wrong at all -- says she'd take the officers' "advice" into consideration, but won't rule out doing it again if her kid gets hungry while she's driving.:angry:

Dayton Mother Caught Breast Feeding and Driving

...

Police say Comptom could have injured her child and others because she was breast feeding and talking on the cell phone while driving the vehicle.

Compton was issued citations for child endangering and violating the child restraint law. Compton told News Center 7 Friday, "If my child's hungry, I'm going to feed it."

...

She would REALLY be in trouble here in Jersey, fined for talking on the cell phone as well as for not having the child properly restrained.

Not only was she endangering her infant's life and her own, but also her other children, as well as others on the road or on the roadside. And she was taking the kids to school? The parents of the other children at that school should be outraged that she has so little regard for the safety of the their children.

Unbelievably ignorant. Even the La Leche League wouldn't stand behind this.

You guy's don't know anything. This is a dedicated mother! Obviously she had the difficult choice to make of her baby starving to death (Inevitable if she didn't feed it) OR POSSIBLY being injured or killed in a car wreck IF it happened.

Our society does put a lot of pressure on people, its a mad house even in my small town with moms dropping kids off at daycare or school then running to work. Wife was telling me in pre-Chavez days in Venezuela, she got six months off with pay when her kids were born, here, you have to do that during your break.

They started this tie your kids up in the back seat with my two youngest. Really had a difficult time teaching them how to drive, actually fell asleep behind the wheel, but why not, they were trained to do that from day one. And whether tied up or not, if a truck runs a stop sign, they will all get killed. And also the increased number of deaths with kids burning to death, because you cannot get them out! And they have to be in the back seat so the airbags don't kill them.

Do I tie my grandkids up in the backseat? You are damned right, it's the law, but not in my two coupes, hanging unto my DeVille for that reason, least it has four doors and hopefully one of the two can open so I can get them out. Another thing I do is to set that baby seat on my counter and practice how to release the belts, all these damned baby seats are different, no standards.

Was talk in congress about adding a switch to disable the front passenger side airbag, but was just talk, and that is about all we get, is talk.

That kid was walking around. It wasn't a newborn and even if it was, there is no excuse. The kid is not going to starve to death on a five minute trip. It was not worth endangering herself, the kid, and all the other unfortunate drivers she was sharing the road with.

She has children in the car. she is talking on the phone, AND breastfeeding? She clearly is not distracted enough.

What is she going to do when Timmy in the back seat drops his juice bottle and starts screaming that he is hungry too? Crawl in the back seat and steer with her feet?

What if little Jasmin throws her dolly at mom and knocks the cell phone out of mom's hand, startling baby Bart causing him to bite mom's nipple?!?!

Some people! :bonk:
