Hi all,

My fiance will be doing his medical exam soon and we have some questions.

When he entered the US as an F1 student some years ago, he was required by his University to take a Mantoux (TB skin) test. It was positive, and they had him get XRays taken. Based on the XRay results, they saw a small spot on his lung and sent him to the local public health clinic. It turned out that the MD at the clinic "thought" that he _might_ have been exposed to (or even have had) TB many years ago, but that he was not currently TB active. He was not required to take any medications (although they suggested that he should "just in case"), just told of the results and sent on his way.

Q1: Has anyone else had a similar experience with the Mantoux/XRays when doing the AOS physical? If so, what happened? And, more importantly, did this affect the processing of the AOS (or the timeline?) I assume this will happen all over again.

Q2: Has anyone tried using insurance to cover the cost of the AOS vaccines? The cost of the physical? Our insurance agency has several civil surgeons in their network and most travel clinics in our network provide those vaccines. We're trying to avoid using our local public health department for the vaccines as this is really for folks with no insurance coverage.

Thanks for your helpful comments and experience/advice!
