I called the AVR yesterday and my case number has been assigned, only 6 days after approval, so that's encouraging. I'm dying to email the DS-3032 - I've got the Wiki format email ready, plus the barcoded signed form to attach. Since I'm going to be traveling tomorrow and out of email/mail contact for 30 hours, I think I'll just go ahead and send the email via my husband's email before I leave. It doesn't hurt, does it? The worst thing that can happen is that they'll email back and say it hasn't been generated yet, right?

I-130 approved by VSC 3/13

NVC case number assigned 3/19

Thanks, Champi. I read all your posts - I'm snapping at your heels! I'll do the sticky label thing too on all my paperwork when I get home. Should have everything I need by the end of this week. It's practically been a full-time job, but I'm so glad I decided not to go with a lawyer. It's kinda satisfying doing everything yourself anyway. What else have I got to do with all my spare time until my husband gets here ... And VJ is fabulous.

We are approved last March 16, and still waiting for NVC to assign us a case number. But in meanwhile, can we go ahead and fill out the forms (I-864 and DS-230) online while waiting? Or it's absolutely necessary to use the forms they will send us via mail?

Hey carlish,

It has been taking time lately to get a case #, anywhere between 10 to 15 days. But you're on right path. It is good idea to start putting docs together for NVC, filling out forms is a good start. Also, start getting tax transcripts, employment letters, police certificates, etc. These things takes a while, at least a week or two. In my case, we're still waiting on PCC, we applied for it on 6th March. But it depends from country-to-country

As for using forms, I think most ppl who wants to fly through NVC gets forms from online... I don't think its required to use docs they send you. But you do need to get barcode for things, which some people get it off of the things they get in mail while other generates it. I've not gone through the entire process so maybe other VJ members will have good answer for you :)

Good luck for the NVC process

Thanks for your advise champi. I've started gathering documents already. I have a certified copies of our marriage certificate, my husband's birth certificate, and the tax transcripts (2005 to 2007, planning to file 2008 tax this week). We are still missing my husband's police certificates which he is taking care right now, and I need to have my employer sign the employment letters.

I like the idea of using labels. I think I will do that and attach them to every single document. Thank you.

Goodluck everyone!

Hello again, everyone.

We are still waiting for our case number from the NVC (NOA2 was issued March 17)... so we are trying to be as patient as possible and follow the shortcuts in the meantime.

I just have a quick question... does all of the correspondence from the NVC have to go to the beneficiary (i.e. my husband)? I am just a little worried because he does not speak very much English at all, so I am thinking that as soon as he receives the packet/instructions from the NVC he is just going to have to put it in the mail and send it to me anyway... which is going to be a huge slow down in the process.

If we choose to elect me as the agent, will all future mailings go directly to me? Or will some stuff continue to be sent to him?

Thanks for your help! I read this thread constantly and your advice is truely invaluable :)

Regarding the Form 1864 Number 23 question.

Current Annual Income: IS THIS 2009 OR 2008? How about my co sponsor which is a seaman, he just got home from the ship last month of February. We have no exact date when he will be going back. How's that? How to put the annual income for 2009 then?

I still have copies of the 2x2 passport photos of my husband that I sent along with the I-130 and G-325A forms last month. Can I submit the same set of photos for the DS-230 form? Or it would be safer to have my husband take another set of photos for the NVC forms?

One more thing, for the AOS, do I need to submit my original copies of my pay stubs? Or photocopies would be sufficient? I'm planning to block out personal info such as SS# and checking account number off the pay stubs (as we use direct deposit here at work).

My question for number 23 in 1864 form is: CURRENT ANNUAL INCOME?

Since its only March 2009 do i need to multiply the income of my husband by 12 months for this year 2009?

For example:

For 2009: $2,500 X 12 months = $30,000.

Is this the amount that my husband needs to put at Number 23 of 1864 FORM?
