Well we applied on Monday (the 23rd) of this week and we got our approval of the I-130 today! :dance:

Though we did not receive a package or 'packet' of papers, just a single letter saying we were approved and we could download the forms and instructions at a website connected to the US consulate here. Is this normal? Or a new 'green' method of saving paper? or perhaps they didnt want to pay the fee to send the packet? hehe

One question, we did get a case number, I'm just not sure where we can use this number to check for updates in the future? Is it the USCIS website or another one since we did not file in the States?

April 27 2009 -Final Interview--APPROVED!!

April 29 2009 - Received VISA in mail!

June 22 2009 - Flew to NY

Sept 18 2009 - Moved to NC-WooHoo!

When we did DCF in Australia the "packet" was just an email with the information and links to the documents to download.

And no, you won't be able to check your case status anywhere online since your case remains offshore at the Embassy/Consulate the entire process and doesn't make any contact with USCIS.

The first time I was able to check my status anywhere was after I arrived in the US and received my welcome letter (I-797 NOA) which had an SRC number for me to track the issuance of my green card.

01/14/2009 Card mailed

01/xx/2009 Card received

I-751 Timeline

06/02/2010 Send I-751 to California service center

06/04/2010 Received at CSC

06/07/2010 NOA1

06/09/2010 Check cashed

No worries :) Good luck with your DCF.. going by how quickly your I-130 was approved you should have your visa in no time :D

So the letter we got saying we were approved was technically our 'packet 3'? lol seems odd I would call it 'letter 1' :lol:
