Hi, I live in Vancouver, but I recently received my packet 3 from Montreal. I would much rather go through Vancouver since it is much quicker. What should I do to get my processing switched to the Vancouver consulate?

Thanks, I know I have been posting alot of questions, I'm just trying to figure this stuff out, hopefully after this is all done I can help others out who are going through this

That's strange...why on earth would it come from Monteal? If I remember correctly, there was a spot on the I-129F that listed the closest consult. ( I think it was that one, I know it was asked somewhere) I'm from the Island and I'm sure Vancouver was put down.

I hope it gets worked out for you quickly. Only makes sense for you to have your medical and interview there.

As i stated in your other thread--email Montreal, with ur case # on subject line, explain that you live in vancouver, and they should transfer ur file to vancouver. This has happened in the past, and they fixed it with no hassle. Ensure u put ur case # in the subject line, it may take a few emails to catch their eye. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Thanks alot for everyone's help. Today I received the packet 3 from the Vancouver consulate. It's strange because I received one from both Montreal and Vancouver. Should I just disregard the Montreal one? I planning on emailing Montreal and telling them what transpired.
