Daymn snappy snaps. They charged me 20 pounds for 4 pics and I just found out kodak express only charges 9.99.

I took and printed my own, which probably cost about 20p. I also did my own photos for my driving licence, medical, police certificate, and passport.

I'll be buggered if I'm going to pay £20 for four little photographs.

Several of our local chemists do US passport photos, and they charge £3.99 for them.

You can get them at the American Embassy for £4 if you want to take the risk of it working on the day

Ooh, don't do that. They'll ask for the US style ones...Snappy Snaps didn't charge me that much, though. Wish I had more advice to offer, 'cause I coulda done it myself (I have a very good camera) but I didn't want to risk getting it wrong.

Well, that's not really Snappy Snaps fault - you should have done your research on prices at other places!

I got mine from Max Spielmans when I got my new passport I had pics left over and used them. I paid under 10 pounds.

7.50 at Gould Pharmacy right by the embassy. I was in the shop less than 5 mins. Piece of cake.

I got mine done at Passport Photo Service (Google Map link) on Oxford St, a stone's throw from the embassy. Their details are in one of the packets the embassy sends out. You'll know you're in the right place because you'll think you're in the wrong place it's up a really wonky flight of stairs and it's just a bloke in a studio with a camera. It took all of 2 minutes and I paid 6 quid for two US-style photos. I used standard British photos for the medical, Knightsbridge Drs told me on the phone that they would be fine (and they were ).

Knightsbridge doctors will accept UK sized passport photos. I've heard that if you give them US sized ones they just trim them down to UK sizes. But you WILL definately need US sized ones for the interview at the embassy.
