The english conversation language can be hard to pick up for Russians, since we use a lot of slang in talking.

Here's the site where my husband has learned a lot of interesting words... from a Russian lady.

I sent her a request to do some "romantic" Russian words to better help us poor saps who can't communicate effectively with our Russian wives.

There's a difference between normal Russian chicks and the one on the videos... most dont play up the "super #######" theme unless they are after something, like a dude, his bling bling, or a visa/GC

Sure, but the difference is, in Russia, the "average" girls look like that. In America, only the slutty girls look like that. The "average" Russian girl looks smokin hot without trying. American girls try pretty hard to pull that off! (And 9 times out of 10, it shows!)

Quick edit - Let me clarify..... that's for the younger women. The older women (both countries) had style and grace.

I agree. There is a reason there are so many "beautiful" (yet mostly slutty) Russian chicks that are single and end up bitter old maids Maybe Russian men want some class too?

Both young Russian women AND men take far more pride in their appearance than their American counterparts. 3/4 of the people under forty in America are walking around looking like they either just got out of bed or came from the gym. American women can be hot too; most of them just don't seem to care though. Keeping in shape? What, that's fat discrimination! Wearing nice clothes? You should love me just as much if I go out in public looking like a slob!

As for American men... well, I'm divided on that one.

I think it depends on what part of the US you are talking about, rural areas tend to be more slobberish in terms of dress, and soccer moms think wearing sweatpants everywhere is acceptable. However, in bigger cities I think people look much more presentable. I think all Europeans take better care of themselves in terms of appearance.

I think some of the differences in dress in Russia are due to "keeping up with the jones's" type of attitude. Like they have to wear the best brand names (even though most of it are knock offs).

What amazes me, is stores that sell jeans for like $250 and Russians buy them without a second thought... even though for some this is their months salary. Cell phones too, some are $400-500 and you see teenagers with them.

Maybe I'm biased, but I completely agree with Slim and Eekee.

I keep trying to explain to my friends how different it is (here vs there), but they don't believe me.

I do agree that Europeans generally have a better appearance as well (sans UK).

Although, I did notice when I was in Moscow that a lot of the girls were starting to dress like American women, because they think it's a fashion. They don't realize it's just laziness. Of course, this isn't a blanket statement of all American women, just the majority. I'm sure American women have generalized complaints about us American men though too.

Actually, I don't remember seeing any Uggs in general (man I hate those things too, especially with mini-skirts).

Does this mean I have to stop wearing my fleece mini-skirt with my uggs and start brushing my hair and teeth? I remember back when Ammar found me, wallowing in a dirt-hole as he rode in on his camel. I had on my Uggs, had a few sticks in my hair, and had 3-day-no-shower smell. I weighed about 1001lbs at the time, and I was eating straight out of a bucket of KFC. He knew I was the one when he saw me pull out a back-up pair of crocs I had forgotten about in my giant purse.

<---------hates Uggs and mini-skirts, crocs and giant bags, owns none of this, and doesn't own a pair of sweat pants... does own a couple of hoodies, although they would be inappropriate to wear to a restaurant. Has no idea how people thought these styles were a good idea.

<---------brushes hair and teeth multiple times/day, and has never weighed 1001lbs (although I could loose weight now, thus I am working out so I can have my size 2s back in about a month and a half) in case there was confusion...
