Well I think I'm about to lose my mind here! At work, things have just been piling up so my boss offered to hire me an assistant, great, so he hire's me an assistant...his son  . hmmmm, i didn't really like this but I was going to make the most out of it. Well it hasn't been really working out great, all the work that i put on his desk to do comes back to me. I get told that he doesn't have time to do it because my boss "his dad" has him running household errands during business hours. He doesn't even show up half the time to work, my boss calls him wondering where he is at and WHEN he will be coming into work....how nice. He takes 2 hour lunches and takes money out of the petty cash to go buy his lunch...lovely. So here it is today and my boss tells me that when "my assistant" comes in to work, i should ask him to write me my PAYCHECK...#######!!! I about lost it, i think my jaw about broke my desk and I politely said, no..i think you should be the one writing me my paycheck. I don't think he liked me saying that but I could tell by his reaction that he wasn't very happy but I just totally disagree with that. Would this bother anybody or is it just me and I am over reacting? He is suppose to be my assistant so why in the heck do I need to ASK my assistant to write me my paycheck???? I'm just glad it's Friday so I have the weekend to cool off.

don't sound like much of an assistant....it's more like you are the assistant.

I think this would make anyone crazy. Its absurd, unprofessional and angering

good luck in dealing with this very delicate situation. (F)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

What a bad spot to be placed in. I'd feel just as you do, especially the paycheck part. My wayward "assistant" writing my paycheck? Huh-uh. Hope it gets better.

 I would find a way to diplomatically approach the boss and express your "concerns". good luck!

I'm not sure if that would be a good idea. The boss obviously feels his son can do no wrong. Any criticism of the son could spell bad news. This is definitely a delicate situation. I wonder if there are any laws that cover this?
