How long can i remain outside the US after getting green card

This is my situation.

My appointment has been schedule for March 09 at CDJ, after getting my passport stamp at the border I'm flying back to my wife ( we currently live in mexico ), we have plans to stay in mexico for another month then travel to Spain to visit friends with a short stay in the US prior to the trip to Europe, then be cause of job and school ( she's studying here ) compromises we cannot go back to the states right away this would take maybe until August, is there any problems with this...?, should we be applying for something extra to allow us to do this...?
