I have been reading a few people saying how its a bad idea for the USC spouse to go to the interview?

I thought that would make it look better?

He is really hoping to come to mine and be here for it

To me, with a spouse at a interview, it shows a committed relationship. Like the old saying, if your going to sell something, dont do it on the phone, too easily to be turned down, but knock on the door, better chances of a sale.

I will be there at my husbands interview.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

I've seen LOTS of people that are still kicking themselves in the butte for not attending the interview. :bonk:

NEVER have seen anyone that regrets they attended. :innocent:

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

My husband didn't attend mine. The consular officer asked where he was, I said he left the other day to fly back to the US and we moved on to the next question. It wasn't a big deal to them that my spouse wasn't present

NEVER have seen anyone that regrets they attended. :innocent:

I've heard about a spouse be denied entry because he wasn't required to be at the interview. So like I said, check with the embassy/consulate on their rules

If you are not doing a DCF it is never a bad idea for the USC spouse to attend the interview. A US citizen cannot be denied access to an US embassy or consulate anywhere in the world, the Visa applicant is merely invited there as a guest and has no right to enter otherwise. There may be embassy specific procedures regarding the actual interview but the the mere fact that he/she is there gives a great deal of legitimany to the relationship as well as allowing your USC spouse to most effectively deal with any problems that may come up.

It is not necessary but it is never a bad idea.

It's wise to be within earshot of the interview as it takes place.

Went into the interview room, I was asked a couple of questions, in Portuguese, no problem answering.

Nothing proves a bonifide relationship as much as both parties being there, aswering questions together, and interacting for the interviewer.

Besides all the moral support for the SO.

Rather enjoyable experience both being there to share the anxiety.

Whether it matters or not to the interviewer, with all the pressure and stress my honey will be under I need to be there. If the situation was reversed I know she would be there for me.

It is NOT a bad idea. According to what we were told the DOS encourages both the beneficiary and the petitioner to be present coz its a better way of assessing the relationship. However its also one of those things that the Consulates have taken upon themselves to use according to their convenience. If you can attend the interview or atleast be present around the area thats always the best thing to do.
