Since my joint sponsor's account is very old , they don't have the records in the local bank , so they faxed the letter to us from the main branch , is this still fine?

i have the transcripts for 2005,2006,2007 & Tax papers for 2008

2008 income is 93000 $ without any dependents ,

i guess the fax copy will be fine right??

I would think yes, as long as its legible. Bank letters are optional. If he makes more than the guidelines require and can prove it in other ways you don't need the bank letter, so how particular can they get about something that isn't required at all. I also have to say, it never ceases to amaze me the lengths banks will go to to avaoid doing a damn thing except take your money for "fees".

My bank was similarly paralyzed with this crippling disease. I wrote the letter myself. I wrote to say exactly what I wanted (after checking all figures were correct) I got into the branch President's office and said "Please type this on bank letterhead and sign it" She said "um, well, but, hamana," and other higly technical bank words understood only by people with advance degrees in accounting and banklingo-ology. I asked "is there a problem?" She had to apply her superior intellect to it and answered "Well, we will have to check your figures." To which I answered "I wait here." I had the letter in hand in just about 5 minutes

A couple of other tips...

Tell your fiancee to destroy any tax records earlier than 2006. As I make a new return each year, I shred one from 3 years ago. The government forces us to keep records for three years, I do not keep them for three years and a day. You won't need 2006 returns and probably not anything but 2008. But go ahead and bring them if you want. Why not?

If his income is verifiable at that amount, do not allow the highly educated, very important bankers to waste any more of your time. You don't need their stinking letter. Neither did I, I added it because I believe in bringing a gun a knife fight, but I cannot tolerate self-important BS for even one second.

Try to help out the bank, if you give a bank letter, it is perfectly acceptable to provide a statement of deposits in the last 12 months, that's what I did, even my bank could handle that.
