Hello guys!

Been reading alot of Filipinas delaying their interview because of sputum tests. I am just worried because some of them were not expecting to have TB because there were no symptoms and that they said they're healthy. Now, I am scheduled for medical check up this March and I'm planning to have a chest xray before that so I will know (God forbid) if I have it and maybe can have medication right away. Now my question is, 2 consecutive chest xrays harmful to health?

Hello,You may get some different answers from people who are really paranoid of xray radiation, however, the radiation output from a modern xray machine is really very little. A couple of xrays wont hurt you. You dont want to get 2 xrays a week for a year, but who would. Dont worry about it unless you are in the first trimester of preg. Take a deep breath and go into your medical and interview with confidence knowing that you are almost through with this whole thing. That is the same advice I gave to my wife just last week when she had her med & interview. Good Luck

Do not judge a man by his mistakes, judge him by what he learns from those mistakes.

When I was a kid they actually had a kind of xray machine in the shoe store so you could see how your shoes fit. I used to play with the damn thing and am still here so I wouldn't get too worried about a couple of xrays.

I would agree with the pregnancy concern...but if you are not pregnant if you have ten x-rays between now and then it will not harm you

I doubt if having a chest xray test weeks prior to your medical (which is this coming March) will help IF you have a lung problem. TB is a 6-month long medication process (the least, I believe) and its already late if you will have the "just to make sure" test just now. You will still undergo those months of medication (ONLY IF). It's just a waste of moolah to have it this time since you're having your medical soon. But it's still your pick, suit yourself. :) T'was just my two cents.

2nd question: I doubt if 2 consecutive xrays are harmful (as long as you're not pregnant). We are flaunted to radiation from other natural sources all the time. So you're all good!

You were never a mistake. You were my realization.

no not really as what everybody has said (pertaining you're not pregnant)... ive done 5 x-rays in one month and 3 x-rays prior to that month. (long long story lol). but part of it was my preparation for the med exam and i have bone density on my upper rib so they thought it was something on my lungs... so to make sure it wasnt, they do all the necessary steps... you should be fine... good luck! God bless!

Go take the xrays if the cost is worth your peace of mind. But remember, it is SLEC's job to make sure you are healthy before entering the USA. You will subject to their testing, and medication if necessary, on their timeline.

Even if you take xrays, a note, or sputum test from another Doctor to SLEC they will make you do their tests until they can clearly prove you do not have PTB.
