My wife is scheduled for her Adjustment of Status (I-485) interview on July 17th. Is she going to get her passport stamped with I-551? And, I had been divorced twice before and I got both the previous petitions terminated before they were approved. I need to know what are possible questions that I would be asked? I am a little concerned and nervous that since this is the third time I've filed (but the previous two cases were terminated upon my request before they could be approved) so how difficult the interview could be? Thanks.

As far as I know & read from here who already done the interview mostly questions ask are similar to K3 visa interview. some important things you need to get ready are joint bank account, lease/properties both in your name, utility bills, Photos, health insurance, 2005 tax if not submitted etc..there are some cases also that was approved without too many questions ask so don't worry much. If they ask you about your divorced just answer honestly and you sure be fine. about I-551 stamp if they approved you on the spot you can ask for stamp. others got their stamp without asking depend upon the local office. some local office won't give you stamp if GC will be sent to you immediately but sure you can always ask once approved. Good luck!

Thanks a bunch for the reply JRluvsLhyn. So, lets say if she doesn't get her passport stamped with I-551. Would it be ok for her to visit her relatives in Canada for a month or so? She is on K-3 visa which is a mutiple entry visa but, I mean the visa wouldn't become void after the interview in this case would it?

if you successfully pass the AOS interview, she will likely have her GC in the mail in about a week. If she can hang around to wait for that, you won't need to worry about hassles at the border when she returns.

AFAIK, not all DO give the stamp because they are so quick in getting the cards out now.

As for your other questions, as long as they have copies of your divorces, there should be no problem. They may ask, just reply truthfully what happened. Bring along copies of your dicorces just to be sure they have them. Actually, take along copies of everythign you've ever sent them. They may ask for it, they may not, but better safe than sorry. I toted along everything in a huge bag with us, and all they asked us for was our ID. It was rather uneventful.

Good luck! :)

I got my GC in Feb not even 2 wks after my interview. I just got back from 4 wks in Alberta. On my K3visa I was told by more than ONE border patorl and immigration (via phone) that the multiple entry for k3visa is not rock solid to get me back into the USA so I waited for CG.

May God's Grace be all you will ever need ticker.png
