hi,

we just got approval of both our I130 and I129F ( CR1 & K3). i just want to know what's the best thing to do. Proceed with the k3 so i can be in the US faster and just do the change of status there? or proceed with the CR1 and just wait for it here in Manila.

and if we choose to just proceed with 1 ( k3 or cr1) what will we do with the other one? just ignore it?

please help.

thank you

K-3 is faster than the CR-1 for about 2 months but if you do CR-1, CR-1 is less money than K-3 and you will not have to do the adjustment of status and you will receive the green card and SSN few weeks after you enter US. You will be able to work right away and not have to deal with the waiting time for adjustment of status.

Here is the fast process at NVC if you wish to do CR-1

If you chose to do the K3 then you don't have to do NVC process. But if you chose to do CR1 then just ignore K-3 eventhough the embassy might schedule the interview for K-3 before CR1. My friend just ignore K-3 interview and persue CR1/IR1 instead, he did the process at NVC and got the interview date later on for CR1/IR1

If you are talking about CR1 then you don't have to do the adjustment of status but if you chose to do K-3 then you have to do it.

K-3 : Need adjustment of status and can't work right away, you have to file for Work authorization.

If you didn't submit I-130 for your step daughters then your husband will have to only go for K-3 route to cover your step daughter too.
