I've been very sick since late Tuesday; missed two days of work so far. Here are my symptoms:

Fever, sometimes feels like I'm burning up.

Sinus drip from my nostrils and backward into my windpipe.

Chest congestion, caused by the above

Unproductive cough; very painful at the front of my throat when I cough...feels like sandpaper.

Body aches,

General weak feeling.

Nausea sometimes; twice prayed to the porcelean god...no food, just stomach acid.

Last #2 since Tuesday Morning.

I'v taken Robitusin DM Max, acetaminophen, and Claritin. Also tried one of Lai's Chinese herbal concoctions...

I feel like I'm dying

Any one have any suggestions? Lai went to the pharmacy to ask, but they were at lunch...

im just getting over the same thing as well as my husband. it takes about a week before u feel better. im still coughing up lung but u will survive i promise. last night was my first almost full night of sleep. it really is a bad virus and my husband also had a patient last friday come in with the same thing.

either dramatically cut back on the whiskey or dramatically increase it. i'd say go for the increase first, then cut back after a week.

It's probably the flu as apposed to a cold. If it is, closely monitor. You should be ok but with flu, you can't be too careful. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Oh, and no I am not a DR so what I say has no real relevance outside of a PC

You might also have a sinus infection going on there as well as the flu.

Scott, those are similar to the same symptoms I had over 2 weeks ago.

I was taking Mucinex - same ingredient as Robitussin but each pill lasts 12 hours....and you can now buy the generic which is much cheaper.

Saline Nasal Spray - that stuff is a godsend. I've got a bottle at my desk at work, in my car, and on my night stand.

Humidifier - we have a warm mist version. A recent study shows that cold viruses thrive in dryer, cold air. Stay in bed...close up the room and crank on the humidifier.

Hope you feel better. My cold lingered for well over 10 days.

Drink honey and lemon for the cough. Real honey and real lemons not some shop bought mess. It tastes good and it helps sooth and hydrate. Lemons are known for their abillty to boost the immune system.

I don't measure anything, but I boil some waters, put in some honey and freshly squeezed lemon in a cup and add water to the top of the cup. You should be able to taste both the honey and the lemon. Sometimes I put in the lemon peel as well but only if unwaxed.

All those chemical preps are a waste of time if you ask me (again, no Dr here), just take some kind of anti-inflammatory/pain killer and it'll work just as well.
