Initial evidence sent but case still on hold

Got a letter stating that I needed to send initial evidence for I-485 as proof of my husband's citizenship. I made the copy of the evidence needed and sent it via USPS. I mistakenly placed it in the mailbox with a bunch of letters and did not get to have it tracked. Clerk at the PO said I had to wait until they came to remove the mail which was about 3 hrs later so I left as my husband was not feeling well. It has been almost 3 wks since I mailed it and my status is still saying "Case on Hold." I called to speak to someone about it but got the automated service, is there any way I can get a feedback regarding this or I just have to wait it out. I did not put a note on the envelop stating that it was a request for initial evidence but I made a copy of the letter they sent to me. Again is there any way I can bring this to their attention?

I would re-send it this time with delivery receipt. If by chance they did get the 1st one then it wont make any diffrence. On the other hand if they did not recive it and you dont send it again then the next thing you will get is a letter of denial for failing to send requested evidence within the time given.

Thank you. The copy I made was smudged and not very clear at the top, should I still send it?

If you re-read the instructions with the RFE you'll see that there is a specific address to send your reply to (e.g., Attention: XYZ and the address), plus they want the original RFE letter, not a copy.

(I'd also consider resending the information requested and follow the instructions exactly - and send it USPS Priority with receipt.)

I sent the original which was written on a yellow paper and followed the instructions. I made a copy of it just in case. They did not tell me to attention it to anyone in particular. this is what it said:

Request for Initial Evidence (I-485)

This office is unable to complete the processing of your application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (Form I 485) without initial information. Submit ALL the information requested below at one time. Failure to do so will result in a denial. You must submit the information within 87 (eighty-seven) days to the following address:US Department of Homeland Security, PO Box 648004, Lees's Summit, MO 64002. Include this letter with your response.

The letter then went on to tell me that I need to submit evidence that establish that the petitioner on Form I-130 is a US Citizen and told me what kind of document is used a evidence. There was no other request or instruction and I did as they asked. It is not a month as yet since I sent it out but I am concerned that they have not even let me know if they received it.
