AR procedures- how long will it take

hi there,

I had my intereview at Islamabad embassy on 22nd May. It went well and they kept my passport and told me that I will be getting my visa posted in 45-60 days after AR procedures.

Has any body else been through this procedure? Do you know if 45-60 days is 45-60 days and not more than that. I have lived in USA with my family on visit visa couple of times. Is that going to take the embassy more time for me to get AR clearance.

You never know, really. I notice some people on this site have received their visa in few weeks while others are still waiting for months. I believe all male applicants (specially those who have spent any time at all in US) in a certain age group at the Islamabad embassy must wait for the AP or AR but their wait time varies. I was interviewed on the April 17, 2006 and till waiting. I would be interested to know if anybody has figured out the average wait time.

AR and or AP can last from few weeks up to two years. All males going thru Islamabad seem to befall this and have to wait out the process. AR you get some information. AP it is black abyss until they decide to finish the processing.

My husband never traveled out of Pakistan and we were on AP for right at 5 months. We were in the dark the whole time and could not get any help from the congressman or senators offices. Senator inquried on my behalf and was told that

The applicant is on AP and we will contact them once it is finished. There is no set timeline for this processing.
