Ok, so I'm happy my husband got his visa and he will be here soon....

My question is what to do NOW  ?

His visa is only for 6 months, if anyone can direct me towards the next step I would really appreciate it.

Do we need to apply for another visa? what about work permits? etc?

is he able to leave the country?

too many questions....

Thanks for your help

Are you sure about the 6 mos.?

After entry the next step could be to file an I-765 for work authorization or I-485 and I-765 for registration as a permanent resident.

YMMV

Well I asked my husband to check if there was an expiration date and he said it was 8/19/09, which is exactly six months from when he was approved, I was also surprised when he told me. But I also heard that he will need a different visa permit to travel....im confused. is it just hear say or do they just have more excused to squeeze out our money

Are you sure it is a K-3? I just looked at the visa validity schedule for Jamaica and a K-3 is typically 24 months

When one gets the CR-1 visa does he/she still need to get the work authorization??

No, and no AOS either as a CR-1 results in immediate status as a permanent resident (greencard) which IS work authorization.

YMMV

If it is a K3 visa, not a CR1 visa, then it should be good for two years. If there's an error, have him take it back to the Embassy to be corrected. They do sometimes expire sooner when the passport is expiring soon. If it's really a CR1 visa, then six months is correct.

The next steps after entry with K3 are spelled out in the Guides. I suggest you study the guide for adjusting status very carefully, then study the applicable form instructions and then return with any remaining questions.

A CR1 visa is a single entry visa. You have six month after the visa is issue to use it the one time. Once you use it, you need no visa. You are a legal permanent resident of the USA.
