We just got our I-130 approved and are now working on next steps. I was reading the Visa Journey guide and it noted that the petitioner should supply at least one year's worth of tax returns (3 years is best). Can I supply my actual tax returns (with all W-2's attached, etc) or in your opinion, is it better to request transcripts of this information from the IRS (to avoid any delays in processing)?

Also, I am the petitioner and I quit my job and am with my husband in Europe so we wouldn't have to be apart during this process. My father will be a co-sponsor so we should easily be able to meet the income requirements. Does anyone think it presents a problem if I am not currently working in the U.S. while this process is ongoing? I haven't worked since 11/25/08 in order to be with my husband so I cannot provide 6 months worth of pay stubs.

It doesn't matter which ones you sent, copies of the tax returns with corresponding W2s or transcripts. A lot of people decide to send their tax transcripts because they only had copies of the tax returns and not the W2s. But if you have them, just make copies and send them with the I-864.

As long as you have a co-sponsor, you should be fine.

If you send your copies of the Tax Returns you will need to send the W-2 and any 1099s that you may have had. It is simpler to just request the Tax Transcripts from the IRS (you get them within a week) and send those in with a copy of the W2.

hi all, i have a question which maybe really redundant since i'm sure many have asked before,

could i just send tax transcripts requested from the IRS instead of digging for my past tax return forms? i had an accountant who prepared them for me but i don't have a copy of those forms he sent me and it would be a hassle trying to find all that again, so is tax transcripts alone sufficient?

Please provide your expertise, THANKS!
