My fiance misses his favorite Ilocano dish at this little place in his hometown of Guimba, Nueva Ecija. He says he can't find a restaurant that serves Ilocano food in Arizona.

Yeah, you might be the only one from La Trinidad here. But there are some Igorotas such as dbears (Igorota from Davao?) and Allan D's wife. A few are from your neck of the woods (Baguio City) too, like Mariquita Linda, taj's american wife, etc.

It's nice to see people from the same areas in the Philippines meeting each other on cyberspace in this thread! :star:

Yes, AJAnTESS is right, I am half Igorota-half Cebuana, born and raised in Davao. My father was born from Sagada Mt. Province but he did spend several years in Baguio. I also have a lot of relatives in Baguio.

I was born in Tagum City: "In 2006, Tagum City became the Palm Tree City of the Philippines. It also holds an unofficial record for having the tallest Christmas tree in the Philippines. At 153 feet tall, the stunning structure near its City Hall rivaled Puerto Princesa City's 100 feet-tall Christmas tree." (wikipedia)

My husband was born and raised in Princeton, a barrio near Raleigh. I now live here in Princeton. Before me and my 2 kids moved here, population was 1,093 including cats and dogs, horses, cattles, and goats and hogs plus chicken... we have been added to the population but it still has not gotten to 1,100 mark. :innocent:

My wife is from Baguio which has already been described here. She is a Genuine Igorota, her parents both from the mountain provinces. Her native dialect is Ilocano but she speaks a little and understands even more, Kan-kan-ni and Ibaloi. Of course she is also fluent in Tagalog and she teaches English in high school.

I spent some of my formative years in Baguio: I was stationed at John Hay Air Base (formerly and now again Camp John Hay) in the late 60's. I met Ferdinand Marcos when he played golf there. I also was invited to a reception at the US Ambassador's summer residence and met G. Mennen Williams, the heir to the Mennen toiletries fortune and ambassador at the time. I had my first real girlfriend in Baguio and to this day San Miguel beer is the only beer that tastes like beer should to me.

My wife and I were married in St Stephen's Lutheran church by a pastor from the mountain provinces. The wedding was a combination of American, Spanish, and Igorot traditions. The wedding party wore ethnic themed gowns and dresses.

I am from Seattle Washington but currently live in Olympia, which is the state capital of Washington. We live on the shores of Puget Sound just across a bay from The Evergreen State College.

Hello there, my fellow Ilocano. Hmmm, your dad's from Ilocos Sur, that makes me his provincemate. Your mom's from Abra, related to a former senator with a street in Manila named ater him. Let me guess, senator from Abra? ... Paredes? ... Quintin Paredes, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, former President of the Senate, huh? You are related to Don Quintin Paredes, wow! I'm not sure if there is a Paredes street in Binondo as I have been out of the Philippines for over 35 years. But am I correct with my guess?

Don't worry about missing pinakbet here in California because you won't, young lady. Filipino and other Oriental stores are aplenty here! And if you are coming to Southern California, you are welcome at our house where the missus and I can always prepare pinakbet and pinapaitan anytime.

My dad's side is from Magsingal, but they're mostly in California now lol

Yes, you are correct... Quintin Paredes is the immediate street after Jones Bridge, going further down the street will lead you to the Binondo church

Thank you for the offer AJAnTESS! :)
