we didn't hire a professional photographer either.. but looking back I kind of wish we did.. we had a family friend take our pictures and he did an adequate job and he did give us the pictures as a wedding gift...

these are a couple of my favourites..

I really like the first one- all the green is striking, especially with the contrast between it and your white dress.

We actually couldn't afford a good photographer either, but ended up with an amazing one because he was just starting out in the wedding industry and was building his portfolio. He does a lot of art stuff and when I saw it I just ask by chance if he did weddings and lucky me he was starting to think about it! That was a year before our wedding. A couple months after I asked he came back and asked if I was still interested... so we got an amazing deal on an incredible photographer! It was a huge blessing b/c we were on a tight budget.

I don't have any photos yet obviously, but we're actually splurging on our photographer so I'm VERY excited for them. This is who we are using: http://www.claudiahungweddings.com

I can't WAIT and just had to share my love for her work.

She is so talented! I bet you are just going to LOVE the results!

ETA: I read her "about" section. I want to be her friend.

I went to High School with her actually so that's how I know her, but we were more acquaintances back then. She's just so passionate about her work and I just love her photo journalistic approach to weddings and her photobooth!! She's also just such a nice, genuine person. Her about section is awesome. I figure, this is going to be of the things I'm going to keep and remember forever and that my kids will keep and remember, so why not just go for it. And I don't know, she just makes me trust her... which I find hard with other photographers I looked at.

Sombercat- I love the one of the three of you! They both look like they have arms around you- you are one cherished woman! :D Our photo was taken at a Lake Ontario waterfront park. It was kind of far from our reception site, but the backdrop was just so great we made it work. Thanks for the complement.

Sprailenes- So gorgeous! I love the drama of the chandeliers. Were those one of the reasons for your choosing that venue?

to hope, would that happen to be in Burlington? That looks similar to the Burlington waterfront that I have walked a zillion times!

Yep! Spencer Smith. Good eye!

Haha! I was just gonna ask about that! That's so neat! It's a great picture. You were kinda right by the path that starts at Brant St. and Lakeshore Rd., right? Like kinda near the gazebo (where I spent many many hours of my mis-spent youth! There's not much else to do when growing up in Burlington...) Is that right?

Anyway, these are great pictures everyone! Keep 'em coming! My husband and I are chatting on MSN and going through the wedding photos that we have so far to compile a bunch to put on DVDs to send out with our 'thank you' cards. When we're done, maybe I'll post a few.

YES! That very one! Haha! That's so awesome, because I always thought to myself "this gazebo would be GREAT for wedding pictures" when I was younger, and it seems you have proven that thought to be correct! What a nice picture! Maaaan, when I was 15 or so, I sat on the bench to the right of the gazebo by the water every morning, just reading and drinking coffee before I went to do co-op at a law firm nearby. Oh the memories...

Not a wedding picture, but I finally managed to upload my wedding video. If anyone feels like wasting 10 minutes or so, here it is! :)

And here are a couple of pictures!

This one is not the best quality, but I like it because we're all glowy!

And here is another that shows the rings and the cake and stuff.

Awww great pictures guys! Part of me wishes we had gotten a photographer but we really couldn't afford it and I didn't want to ask my parents for the money at the time.

The only picture I have of Jared and I online from our wedding that is decent.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

What a nice video ! Thanks for posting it, cool wedding - you are a lovely couple - and it's so nice, also, to see the happiness on the faces of your friends and family in the part after the ceremony :)

Oh and if anyone is interested, there was another wedding photo thread before, lots o pictures there too:
