I just got my first NOA after filing i-130 and after doing some reading on these forums I decided to go for the CR-1 as it appears it takes the same amount of time. So now do I need to just wait for the 2nd NOA as oppose to filing i-129f which is the next step for K3?

Thanks!!!

Really from personal experience we got an NOA2 for both the I-130 and I-129F on the exact same day. You can go either way, but most people choose to go for the CR1 as it's an automatic green card after the interview, it's pretty much the same processing time, and a lot cheaper than the K3 in the long run.

Good luck!

That's correct. You now wait for your NOA2. Once the petition is approved by the USCIS, it will be sent to the NVC where you will need to pay a couple more fees and submit the civil and affidavit of support documents and forms. But for now you can find all of this info in the National Visa Center forum.

We filed the 1-29F and CR1 both at the same time, but USCIS lost our 1-29F in transit. VJers advised us to just pursue the CR1 one, so we called and cancelled 1-29F, the lady from USCIS said "good choice" and that "they're giving out approvals pretty fast now".

Yes, if you file both petitions, they would normally be approved the same day. The problem is, filing the second petition causes the first one to lose its place in line and come back to the second one's place in line. If you want an immigrant visa, don't file an I-129F for spouse.

this doesnt make any sense, wasn't the I 129 f designed to get your spose here while the I130 was still processing, it just turnes out that they both have been approving at the same time......
