what is a local office?

Hello, everyone,

I am sorry but I am very confused about what a local office really is ...

I sent my AOS petition to Chicago office, as on the USCIS website that is the address they give. I read VJ forums and I see that some people have local office mentioned in their profiles. Does it mean that some people file at places other than Chicago office or do our cases get transferred somethimes? How do I know where my case is being pricessed at?

Everyone sends the AOS to Chicago and then it either gets transferred to a local office for an interview or to CSC for approval without an interview.

Our NOA-1 receipt number has an MSC on it.. what does that mean?

It usually means that from the Chicago lockbox it was sent to the Missouri Service Centre (MSC). From there it will be either sent to CSC or your local office.

When I try to search for the "processing times" on the USCIS website, the MSC - Missouri Service Center is not listed.
