Oh yes, we will have the Senior Cliche Mix, plus 4-5 other mixes (including "To Temper Sudden Joy" from my freshman year of college, all depressing songs all the time, with the highlight being a particularly mournful Bob Mould song) and maybe, just maybe if you're good, a tape from my high school radio show where I was one of the DJs. So much bitterness, so little time.

I will also bring my late 80s/early 90s indie pop/rock cassette mixes for our listening pleasure.

are they actually on casettes?

I just realized Doolittle is 20 years old......I feel ancient

They are indeed on cassettes. Before I replaced the stereo in the 'Stang, it had a tape player. I cruised around Burbank blasting the best in music for misunderstood children of the 80s/90s cusp.

Yeah, my first copy of Doolittle was on tape -- I bought it through Columbia House. :D

The kids of today will never know the pleasure of making a mix tape....having to re-record something because the tapes weren't synched properly.....or even better, waiting by the radio with your finger near the record button for your favorite song to come on so you wouldn't have to cough up for the casette single

Do you mean, CASSINGLES? The very last one I bought was Radiohead's "Creep", backed with "Faithless the Wonder Boy." I just looked it up on Amazon to make sure that was right and apparently the cassingle now goes for £49.14 on some planet.

What a labour of love those mix tapes were, adding up the times of songs so they would fit on a side, trying to cue stuff up properly, and the tapes themselves were hardly cheap! It was cheaper to buy a pack of smokes than a pack of tapes. Oh god, and then there was trying to get stuff from LPs onto the mixes...

Listening to them now shunts me immediately back to who I was at that time.

Ain't that the truth?! I used to have a cassette taped from the Radio 1 Charts on a Sunday evening (I'm laughing to myself just thinking about holding that pause button down until just the right time) and if I ever hear anything from it it sends me reeling back to days of tracksuit tops, brown jeans and kickers and slapping on the eyeliner for the school disco.

Leney - your boys are absolutely gorgeous! So adorable in their kilts! I can't believe the baby is a year already! Time certainly does fly.

So when Oath says never about Scotland, does he mean never as in not living there again, or never as in never even visiting again? The latter would be too sad for words.

The food issue is so common. My husband would give anything for a regular supply of Walker's Smokey Bacon crisps and Kitkat Chunky! And pork pies! We've been lucky since we've visited twice since Griff moved here and plan to again in July. Its just enough of a food fix to keep him going til next visit. :)

I'd forgotten the existence of the legendary Kit Kat Chunky (including the peanut butter version!) until you just mentioned it then! :crying:

Now I want one!

Oh, those were the days! I remember getting really angry if the station chimed in early with a jingle and I had to quickly rewind a little bit to make sure it wasn't on there for when I taped the next song!

I still remember sitting by the radio waiting to unpause the record button. Half the time i didn't get to it in time. I haven't eaten a Chunky Kit Kat in a long time.

Separated!!
