Well, having birthed 3 babies myself (naturally, of course!) I am finally available to pontificate. tongue.gif Childbirth isn't terrible. Raising kids is challenging. And no matter what, you will love your kid(s) and will be glad you chose to have him/her/them. Best of luck to all the expectant parents. star_smile.gif

I felt pretty sick the whole time with all 3, though the last wasn't as bad with the vomiting. I had the worst heartburn with the 3rd. My labors were all pretty good, the longest lasting about 6 hours and the last just 2 hours. My favorite part of being pregnant was labor!

See now I stopped posting in here because I felt bad 'hijacking' it for the preggo stuff. Maybe we need a 'preggers UKer' thread or something. LOL

Honestly I can see where all the baby discussion would get mundane though - I am conscious of it!

Well, its where you are in life right now and if you can't talk about it among friends, where can you? If others don't like it, they can piss off!! It is *my* thread and what I say goes. tongue.gif

2 hours! Wow!

When mums are carrying their little person/peoples around, it's no wonder it's they're on mummy's mind all the time. Especially when they've got their cute little foot wedged up mummy's rib, so you or anyone else should be able to talk about it all you want. Besides, there's plenty going on on VJ right?

I mean if anyone is looking for a distraction - behold!

I totally get the Facebook updates from new mothers. Everything from "Up at 4am again" to "She's got hiccups, awww". And over the months, you get every single update possible from a new tooth to a new syllable spoken.

While we're talking about annoying advice and comments though, I'd just like to say that just because I haven't HAD a child yet, I can understand at least the concept of the unbelievable, unconditional love for your child. I may not feel that way yet, but I can fathom how it must feel, and look forward to feeling that one day. I pretty much want to pummel the heads of people that tell me I can't possibly understand what it's like to love until I have a child. My brother and his girlfriend had their first baby last year, and all I was hearing about afterwards was how I could NEVER know what it was like, not until my time comes... and how I can't imagine carrying and pushing out a baby until my time comes. And although I get their point, it's highly annoying to be told that my thoughts (even when I'm trying to empathize and agree with them) are irrelevant until I've given birth. Just to let you know how annoying they can be, one time we were discussing them having a second baby soon, and I had said to her "so soon? you're a stronger woman than I am" and was promptly told "well yes, you haven't given birth"...

I totally see where you're coming from, and I've been told the same on more than one occasion. I dunno, maybe the moms can weigh in on how different it is after birth, I dunno if it'll be any different or more than what I'm expecting....but the theory above kinda reminds me of my brain surgery. While I knew it was gonna be bad, and the doc warned me in advance how hard it was, I had no conception of what it was going to be like....and I've said on more than one occasion since 'omG, if you haven't gone through it, you have no idea' because it was soooooooooo much more than I had bargained for...like, beforehand, my brain couldn't have ever even comprehended the levels of pain and weirdness that I felt.

So I guess I am just trying to not be a hypocrite and show a possible other side to the coin. Maybe for those women who say these things, it was that profound of a difference, so they feel like they're being helpful?

That last comment tho? That mom needs knocking out.

Right :D

That movie was made forever ago and it still doesn't get old.

There was a manga sequel for this, they hired a half decent artist just for the cover and the actual interior art was terrible. The whole thing was garbage, they should have made a real sequel to prevent that kind of thing from happening!

Ummm, gin?

Yay, gin!

The husband and I are already talking about what booze to have on ice in the delivery room, even though I'm sure I won't be in any shape to drink it. He's imagining a shot of me with the baby in one arm and holding a bottle of potent IPA (my favorite beer) in my free hand. It's a sweet thought, but I think I'd rather wait a while for cameras.

On a related subject, it seems that every picture of me holding my niece (who is now 6) as a baby involves booze. The first time I held her (apparently), I was multitasking: My brother has a picture of me holding her while taking a giant sip of wine. He calls the shot "Auntie Wino--first in a series." Hmm...

See how I can turn gin into something related to Limita/babies?
