I know we have resisted developing an advanced case of VJ Old-Timers disease for a while, stopping ourselves from flailing wildly at whippersnappers with our canes and shouting "Back in my day...", but really, I have always thought all of these filer threads are a bit OTT. Maybe because there was practically nobody doing DCF through London when I was except wodge, essjay, Margo and me, but I never saw the need to carve out a specific niche on here beyond "I'm doing K1" or "I'm a CR1" or whatever. I think the interview thread is and always has been great, doing some fantastic cheerleading work. Maybe a little too much immigration-related questioning goes on it, but overall it's a really good thing and builds team spirit. I'm not about to call for the abolition of certain topics, but it just seems like there's a level of atomisation on VJ overall these days that has led to excessive navel-gazing and lack of perspective, leading to hysterical responses like the "1 Month Waiting" club.

I think my brain just imploded

I'm all for team spirit but that's a bit extreme, ohh maybe on that vein of thread we should start a we've had our perm residence for... months thread  *gigglesnort*

I'm glad I was a good quiet VJ'er just watching from the wings back when we were dealing with all the K1 stuff. I love reading VJ dont get me wrong but back when we first filled for our K1, I was a bit more interested in spending as much time as I could with Paul before my VWP time was up and would have to make a short trip back to the UK... maybe I should have been more into posting on one month clubs :hehe:

Yeah, I seem to have stumbled into some den of dorkdom. Huh. mellow.gif

Pfft you only wish you could attain my level of dorkiness! ;P And in a round about way, immigration lead to me playing WoW! It was the only damn thing we could do when we were stuck apart for nearly a year dealing with a heart-wrenching, international custody battle, and *then* immigration with only mildly freaked out forum posts! Ooooh I hope I peed right in your Cheerios ;P *HUG*

One word: taxes. Kill me now. Gouge my eyeballs out with twigs. Dunk me in a vat of piranhas. Because this effing bites. I have spent about 55 hours in the past week on my taxes and I'm just now getting to the state stuff. AND I have Connecticut and California returns to do. I'm off to buy a new calculator and a six-pack of beer as ammo. At the end of this rumble, either Uncle Sam or I will be the winner. Here's hoping it's me. <_<

Indeed you should! I hope you're feeling terribly guilty. :P:D

on the taxes note, Im glad I let Paul do ours, he got them done back before our interview and he's weirdly cute in that he actually enjoys doing his taxes... probably because he never owes anything thank goodness, good ol' Arnie even paid up around the time my Perm resident card came through the post so double woot LOL :D
