Ughh if my husband did the shopping I would have to prepare an indexed list with prices on it for him. THEN he would still return only with THE cheapest items he could find. Sooo like a jar of tomato sauce, some yogurt and tuna. THEN he would ask why we didn't have anything good to eat for the week.... UGHH!!

Cleaning, hmmm I do most of it on the weekend because he works. When he has a day off during the week he'll pick up, vaccuum and do a load of dishes. He helps get the kids homework done, baths (he's good at that) and ready for bed. He used to do nothing so I guess this is a big step in the right direction!

I love cleaning when I can, but Wael will jump in and do anything that needs to be done. He's as particular about a clean house as I am so we have no probs when it comes to keeping things cleaned and picked up.

He also does the ironing if anything has to be ironed! I think he would iron everything if he could!

He's pretty much of a neat freak as I am.

Saturday he loves going to the market to shop. He is an excellent shopper...very frugal...loves sales and looks at sale papers for the best bargains. He knows what we need, goes thru the cupboards and the fridge and makes his list.

What's that???? Never heard of it!

Who does most of the cleaning in your household?

How clean (not hygiene) is the mister of the house?

What are your expectations of how clean the house should be?

1. I do not like to clean but I also hate a cluttered, dirty house...so we share the chores. He takes out the garbage and puts the cans to the curb and I do most of the dishes. He puts them away. Cooking its shared...we do what we can when the other one is busy. Dusting, vacumming, bathrooms, we split or do together. Saturday morning is our chore day and we dedicate about 2 hours to the house...then off to do what we want.

2. He's a neat freak. Pretty much hates clutter too...

3. We have kids and live a busy schedule...I have no expectations...it just has to get done no one wants to live in filth.

Jeanne...my idea of ironing is if its wrinkled...throw it for a spin in the dryer! :P

That's what I do too! I don't even own an iron right now.

Good grief my house has never been cleaner EVER! He can't stand a single SPOON in the sink... can't even wait for the dishwasher to get full and run it.. has to do it by hand..... Has emptied out every single thing from my cupboards and thrown out everything old and organized everything that "passed his fresheness test".... I have to hang on to my glass or he takes it from me and washes it!

He irons, he does laundry, he puts all my cosmetics in a row on the counter... even tackled the "garage sale" pile in my loft... I can't wait for the weather to get warmer so he can tackle the garage!

I seem to be the vaccumer, the toilet and shower cleaner, and cook. But the fact that I don't have to clean the kitchen afterwards makes it a pleasure....

Hubby never lifted one finger back home in Morocco. It just amazed me and if no one did it for him, it didnt get done.

I dont know how he lived the way he did and I knew I couldnt.

I am not the most tidy of people but the place is clean. I get to things when I want to, there is really no routine for it.

Hubby also informed me that there would be no pressure for things to "get done" in "our" place, however, since arriving, as I said with the cooking, there have been similiar comments made regarding the cleaning.

Our place is very small so it is easy for things to get piled up and lay around. Hubby has definitely surprised me MANY times with a spotless, tidy looking house, upon returning from work and I didnt even ask. It actually looked great. Now granted he shuffles things around and sort of "hides" certain clumps of mess and papers and what have you but on the surface, it looked nice.

He does dishes, but at first, his idea of doing dishes was not really the standard I was used to. I didnt say anything at first until I realized he really didnt know how to do it and found some dishes still dripping wet after being put away. I mean, when he does something he does it.

He would do the dishes and put them away immediately whereas I will just do them but leave them clean on the counter until they dry and I get to putting them away. Now he does the dishes and it is getting much better.

If I ask for his help, which to my disadvantage I dont really, he will do what I ask of him.

He doesnt really pick up after himself. He just gets in a mood to do a clean sweep and he does it, sweeping things here and there and under there :P

but it is an effort and I am grateful.

He likes to put his hand in the cooking if he is with me when I am doing it. He likes to redecorate too, he has his ideas on what he wants our place to look like and wants to contribute toward the organization and placing of things. It is small, what can we really do?

Ironing. I just make sure that all my clothes come immediately from the dryer. I hate to iron but I have a good one and occasionally I use it for my things. Little by little he is learning but I can see where, even with an "american" relationship, there are certain "duties" that just fall upon us as women/mothers and unless we ask or they are just helpful and useful independently it will just remain so.

It isnt easy being a multi-tasker and juggler but that is why we are the stronger sex. :D

Well, he is still unemployed..... hmmmmm maybe there's a business idea in this after all! Let the bidding begin! But he can't guarantee the results... He can show your husband the virtues of OCD Cleanliness and Organization, but he can't make them OCD... I think he was BORN with that!

Who does most of the cleaning in your household?

How clean (not hygiene) is the mister of the house?

What are your expectations of how clean the house should be?

1. We both equally clean I would say. On a daily basis I do dishes and floors (bc the baby is crawling they have to be done everyday) while on the weekends hubby scrubs the bathroom and what not. We both equally keep up on laundry. He is famous for washing and drying but leaving it to be folded. I would definfitly say house work is cut in half.

2.My husband is pretty clean and a neat freak, I guess it really depends on what it is. He is ####### about his car and my car, and also the bathroom. But when it comes to dusting furniture and stuf like that, I have to take the initiative.

3. My expectations for my house is not much. I cannot leave dishes overnight, and I do not like to see hair in the bathroom. Everything else I can let go for a while. I also only do bedrooms once a week

Ha re: sandwhiches. The husband came right before Ramadan 2005. On the first iftar of the fast, I made my usual fast breaking meal - a tuna melt and some soup from a can. When he looked at his plate he had the saddest look on his face. We figured out quickly that we had different ideas of what constitutes a meal.

My husband's face is like a sad lil puppy dog when he comes home and finds out that I ordered Chinese food. I just don't get it. Who on earth hates Chinese food? I only order it once/month but I can't totally go without since the kids love it and I need my monthly fix!!!

Also he doesn't think soup is dinner. That hasn't changed yet. The kids and I would eat soup a few times/week with either a grilled cheese or some nice crusty bread and a salad for dinner but when I make soup he puts his in a small small bowl (think custard bowl or jello one serving size bowl) and asks what else is for dinner, then makes the sad lil puppy dog face again.
