Filipinas don't have to brag in this thread if they are highly educated or not. We can discern who are the highly educated and not too highly educated by reading their posts and how their English grammar and spelling stand up.

We don't have to boast that we are accountants or nurses or computer experts. This thread sucks! :star:

Why so sore? LOL

Oh my goodness!!! I did not know that others feel bitter by reading this thread. I think I should include the drop outs here.

We don't have to boast that we are accountants or nurses or computer experts. This thread sucks! :star:

This thread was made out of curiosity. This can also be considered as a sort of survey on the profile of pinay population here in VJ, for fun and making links/connections of the pinays here. There was no premise made on this thread that being highly educated is a determinant of becoming successful or wealthy. There was no claim on it. Therefore, if people will post and wanted to be counted in as degree holder, you cannot judge them that they are bragging. They did it because they know they are. And I suppose, they take pride of finishing their degree. Education is highly valued and is considered as 21K jewel, so to speak. If you feel you are intimidated or irritated by this thread, well, we can't do anything about it. It was not really meant to be.

And by the way, let me tell you that being good/fluent in English is not a basis to say that one is highly educated. It is not also based on the degree earned by the person; it is but rather being open minded and civilized on ones ways. Speaking/Using English as a language is just an art for filipinos.

Let me recast your statement:

"We can discern who are the highly educated and not too highly educated by reading their posts and how their English grammar and spelling stand up." .....I guess you mean stand out.

Let me say it this way....We can discern who are the highly educated from the not highly educated based on their posts and how they construct ideas using English with correct grammar and spelling.

I hope I made myself clear here. Peace (F)

I listened to the speech of President Obama last night. He said that america is one of the developed countries with high college drop outs.

I am just curious if the pinay members here in VJ are also college drop outs, which I think may not be true. I guess there are many pinays, who are here in america, are educated and even college/masters degree holder.

If you are a college/masters degree holder, you're invited to join in this thread and be counted. This is just for fun. You deserve to be recognized! :star:

This appears not to be good example of how "to construct ideas using English with correct grammar and spelling". Are you sure you finished high school?

By the way, I am humbled to say, in a grossly glorified thread like this one, that I am educated.
