Ahhhh yes, the ring issue. See, this topic is quite sad to me. That a materialistic thing is what "proves" that you're in love and married. Some people just don't wear rings. It would be quite pathetic for an adjudicator to deny someone based on whether or not the couple is wearing rings!! In Patrick and my case I wear my rings, but Patrick doesn't. I like wearing it, he doesn't. As a matter of fact, I don't like him wearing it. Jewlerey doesn't suit him so I prefer him not to wear it. We don't need some object to prove our love for one another. That's my view on that.

Considering you're pregnant I wouldn't worry about bringing the ring. Why put on a facade?

I (and I don't believe anyone else) am not saying that one would necessarily be denied because one did not wear a ring... What I am saying is that if for whatever reason an adjudicator had doubts about a relationship, the fact that a couple does not wear rings in a culture that does could be a case of placing more wood on the fire. If it is an easy thing to do, why not just do something that could only help your case...

Dmartmar, just because your marriage broke down and you feel cheated doesn't mean every other immigrant on this forum is out to screw their USC spouse. Take your bitterness somewhere else. Get some counseling. Do something constructive. If you're like this in real life, you're never going to find another woman to have a relationship with, let alone marry.

I'm not bitter, nor do I feel cheated. I'm way past that and over it already.

But when I got married, my 1st time ever at that, it never ever crossed my mind taking my wedding ring off for whatever reason, be it justified or not.

And when/if I get married again (I do intend do so again), I won't take it off either, regardless of the circumstance(s).

This strikes me as very odd. My husband and I rarely wear our rings when it's just the two of us at home. We take them off each evening and set them on our dresser beside each other. We once joked that we're married in our heart and soul, it's the rest of the world that needs that golden proof that we're happily unavailable.

To never take it off would be highly uncomfortable to me at home, particularly when cooking (who handles raw meat with jewelry on?), bathing, or cleaning with chemicals.

I guess some folks just need that constant physical symbol, but don't knock the girl because she took it off during her pregnancy!
