Manila Embassy Interview

Timeline

Is there a flowchart for K1 visa, specifically for beneficiary in Manila for her portion more detailed than the one in the guide? For example with a detailed list of documents needed to send to the embassy and all the different papers such as NBI clearance, birth certificate, proof of being single etc? Specifically, what is on the list that she will receive in Packet 3?

Rob, click on this link http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfivk1.pdf to see Packet 4 (Manila beneficiaries do not get Packet 3). Everything your fiancee will need is listed in this packet.

I am a little confused. Like all of us, I am trying to figure out the soonest I can expect my fiancee here. Patiently was kind enough to give me excellent links above, but the point of confusion (latest one :P ) is NO PACKET 3? Yet I see timelines in Manila K1 with following timeline and steps?? What am I missing here?

Does my fiancee complete the forms and mail back to Embassy in Manila, or does she just get one packet (#4) with an interview date and take all the forms with her to the interview? Sorry to be so dense. I can blame it on age. If someone could post an entire experience from NVC to Visa in Hand, it would be so helpful for us old folks :P

What is best way to find out and keep track of file reaching and then leaving NVC. arriving Manila? How long is it currently taking Manila to send out Packet 4?

This is someone else's timeline, not mine.

robhankins...

You are not missing anything. Who knows why that individual filled in their timeline like that, but the Manila Embassy does NOT issue packet 3... ONLY PACKET 4.

Q - Does my fiancee complete the forms and mail back to Embassy in Manila, or does she just get one packet (#4) with an interview date and take all the forms with her to the interview?

Complete the forms, gather the required documents, and take them to the embassy on the interview date. The link for the Manila Embassy Packet 4 is within my signature.

Q - What is best way to find out and keep track of file reaching and then leaving NVC. arriving Manila?

You can call the National Visa Center (NVC) at (603) 334-0700 press 1, then 5.... to obtain status of when your file arrives and departs from the NVC. However you will have to call the Manila Embassy at 011-63-2-528-6300 ext 5184 or dial 0 for the operator and ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit to inquire whether they have received the package for your case from the NVC. Some folks have been attempting to track the packages via whatever carrier they use, but it's a waste of time. IMO! However, for all those who do know how it's done... Please chime in.

Q - How long is it currently taking Manila to send out Packet 4?

According to the Manila Embassy staff, they are sending out packet 4 approximately a month before the interview date. You may call them using the number listed above.

Cheers!!!

PW, I have been reading this entire thread. I feel for your situation. WOW! I hope for the best for you. Thanks for all that you do.

Wow, Rob! Reading the entire thread! We're almost 100 pages now and there's lots of info here from the various experiences of those who've made it through this process.

And, you're welcome! Being in this forum is a sort therapy for me. This thread has been a source of support in this long, tedious journey.

x x x but the point of confusion (latest one :P ) is NO PACKET 3? Yet I see timelines in Manila K1 with following timeline and steps?? What am I missing here?

Like Uling, I also don't understand why that Manila K1er received Packet 3. But I noticed a lot of inconsistencies in his/her timeline which makes me think that he/she might be a troll. First, they received NOA1 two months(!) after they sent out their I-129F. That is very unusual. Secondly, their timeline indicates that the fiancee arrived on 8-31-06 and then they married the next day, 9-01-06. I don't think it is possible to marry within 24 hours of arrival since one has to apply for license which requires 3 days, right? And thirdly, the Packet 3 and 4 thing. I think the poster might be a troll. Hey Sheriff Uling, catch the troll!

To address your worry about the packet, embassies in other countries process K1 visa differently so if you see them sending out packets 3 and 4, don't worry. Manila is different. We only receive Packet 4. Like Uling said, we fill up the forms and bring them to the embassy along with the other required documents. There's currently a 120-day wait for interview date from embassy receipt date. Your fiancee should get a January interview or if she's lucky, a late December interview.

Good luck!

Licensing requirements and times vary by state. It is possible to marry within 24 hours in some states. I know it's possible in Nevada and Oklahoma.

There's currently a 120-day wait for interview date from embassy receipt date. Your fiancee should get a January interview or if she's lucky, a late December interview.

Good luck!

We are only a day ahead of NOA2 approval (8/30) to robhankins (9/01). We received our physical NOA2 through snail mail (9/05) but no communication yet from NVC. What really worries us is the 120-day wait time for interview date from embassy recepit date because my daughter (K2) will turn 21 on January 06, 2007! We have sent an email yesterday to NVC (gave them our USCIS Case Receipt No.) relative to this concern. One hundred twenty-one (121) days from now, my daughter will be 21! We pray that they expedite our case.

1. Does NVC/Manila Embassy give early appointment dates because of this (K2 aging out)?

2. In case we got our visas before she turns 21 and we flew to the u.s. but she turns 21 before John and I get married, what will happen to the K2?

3. In case she turns 21 before the interview (God forbids), what are the implications?

Anybody who would like to shed some light on this? The long annulment process had delayed the filing of our I-129F and made impossible for my eldest to be included in the petition. He turned 21 during the annulment process. So, only his 2 sisters are included ( 9 and 20 years old). We pray that NVC will email us back and give us a favorable response. (F)

Looks like my fiancee and you have the same interview date. Sep 28 yeh hey. She is someone who really follows the rules and is too shy to ask for an early medical exam. But I am concerned that something may come up (e.g. cold or flu etc etc)to delay the medical exam if she waits until her assigned date of Sep 21. She already has her appointment letter etc etc. How were you able to get an early medical exam date? Did you call St Luke's or did you just show up?

Thank you, in advance, for your info. Tx so much for the excellent info on how to handle the St Luke's experience.

Just show up :)

Just bring a copy and the original of your appointment letter, passport, money, 2x2 pic, pen and whatever medical reports that you think is important. Especially your records for the past year.

Nice day!

Does anybody here knows how long the NVC will forward the case to Manila after the case has been completed. I'm petitioning my husband through IR1 and he's asking me when he will probably get his interview. I know only a few of us doing IR in here its hard to compare.... Thanks in advance.=0)

My first reply didn't go through. As soon as you have a Manila case number and the file is at the embassy get in touch with them. You can formally request an expedited interview , especially for aging out of a dependent. I believe the Manila embassy has an online form/request for just such emergency and you certainly qualify. I have to be concerned about K-2's also.
