Yeah, terrible! I'd be old and grey or buried 6 feet under the ground by the time my brothers' and sisters' priority date become current. Best way to bring family over is thru employment-based visa.

Hello All:

I've been searching for an hour or more but can't find the right info, hopefully some who have passed before can illuminate the correct path for me. My fiance' will require a police clearance from Japan. I believe that I understand the instructions for obtaining this will come with the packet. Is there any way to expedite this? Is it certain to come before the interview? Can anyone tell me what they had to do to get this from Japan and how long it took. Thank you very much for any help.

Mike

Mike,

A police certificate may be applied for at the Japanese Embassy in Manila. The requirements are:

1) Letter request from the US Embassy

2) Original passport of applicant

Application schedule: M-F 8:40 - 12:30 pm; 2:00 - 4:30 pm

According to the Japanese Embassy, processing takes 2-3 months. Maybe what you can do is to call the US Embassy and ask for that letter request as early as now. The girl at the Japanese Embassy said that a letter request from the applicant herself is not acceptable.

For more info, Japanese Embassy tel. no. is 834-7514.

They say on the list of requirements for the interview that they need proof of payment for the visas at the bank.

What does the bank give out as proof? Is it just a receipt?

Thanks

From what the instruction say they stamp the DS156 after you pay the bank the money for the medical and interview. Haven't done that yet tho.

It's ok, I'm bored tonight. I'll do a few.

I'm a little worried today. My fiancee has a handwritten correction on her Birth Cert. for her dad's name. The midwife spelled it wrong then the local registrar crossed through and wrote in the correction. She has certified letters from the local registrar stating that the correction was done in good faith and all that. We thought we should check with NSO though. My finacee just got back from NSO (2nd trip to CDO) and they told her that the erasure is part of her official record and they see no reason to correct it since it is not her name that was wrong. They told her not to worry that the US embassy would have no problem with it. Wish I could beleive that but I'm still worried. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for the info, it's what I already figured, but the embassy won't issue the request letter without a case number for the application. So I wait.

What's are the original documents that they will get from me?

I just want to make sure that I'll have photocopy of those.

1) DS forms fully filled up

2) NSO-issued birth certificate

3) NBI clearance

4) Marriage certificate (if married)

5) Proof of termination of a prior marriage, if applicable

6) CENOMAR

7) Supporting evidence of identity and/or relationship - Personal photographs with family members together, taken over a period of time may help to establish the existence of a relationship. Personal correspondence, home telephone records, bank records, proof of joint property ownership and/or joint financial obligations, original baptismal records, medical record and adoption decrees are often useful.

8) Evidence of financial support (I-864 for CR/IR) and (I-134 for K1 and K3). Affidavit of Support should be notarized

9) A copy of the sponsor's most recent Federal income tax return (Form 1040) should accompany the I-134. Fax copies of the ITR are acceptable.

10) VISA PHOTOGRAPHS. Two (2) colored photographs printed according to specifications, provided in the visa application packet.

As long as the birth certificate is issued by the NSO on security paper, that should be considered as the official birth certificate.

hi PW! i got my case number, MNL2006712XXX yaaaay! ill check within the week if they have sent it out yet. :)

Yna: Congratulations on your progress! It seems as if we're on about the same timeline. I got my NOA2 on 28 July and the e-mail saying it was sent out, but how did you get your case number. My fiance' will require a police clearance from Japan and I need a case number to get the request letter from the embassy. I'd like to get this in motion ASAP, of course, so your help would be appreciated.
