I am calling from the US. Can I call the 909 number from the US? If so what would be the rate? If it takes just a few minutes to get through and find out the information then calling the 909 number (my fiance can call from the Philippines if need be) would be better than paying fixed price of $18. Or do they put you on hold for ages while you pay 53 pesos a minute?

I am prepared to wait a week or so for the packet but I have heard that you cannot rely on it arriving in time. Anyone else experienced that?

photon, since you already have your interview date then you don't have to avail with the Embassy call center. your medical is usually a week before you interview date but you can opt to have it earlier. this is the Embassy's local number (if calling from the US): (011-63-2) 528-6300 ext 5184. tell the person your case number and ask about your medical appointment and when your packet was sent. if you do decide to have an earlier medical appointment but your packet has not arrived, then you can call them again and St. Luke's medical that you will be picking it up at your medical.

We just saw our interview date posted on the Manila website http://usembassy.state.gov/manila/wwwfvisa.pdf for August 8 but we don't know when the medical examination will be.

You may also call the Dept. of State at (202) 663-1225 ext. 1,0,0. More convenient and cheaper to call them than the Embassy Call Center's 1-909 and 1-888 numbers. DOS should be able to tell you the medical date of your fiancee. Be ready with your Manila case number when calling DOS. Well, actually, your fiancee can have her medical even without an appointment and the packet. She can just show up at St. Lukes with her Manila case number.

Updated to add interview date of sillygirl. I also removed the names of those who've passed their interview in April to make the list manageable. Photon, if you want to be included in the list, please provide us with your NOA2 date and case number.

If there are other lurkers who want to be in the list, just let us know and we'll list you down. Thanks.

Save yourself all that money if you are calling overseas and just call the D.O.S. (Department of State). If you have a cell phone with no long distance charges, just call them here at 202-663-1225. It takes about 20 to 30 mins to get through especially on a Monday!

Why spend all that money when you can get the same info state side?

Hope that helps!

Thanks for this tip and all the other great suggestions! I just received in the US a copy of the letter they say they are sending with Packet 4 to my fiance. It says the medical appointment is for August 1, one week before the interview date. It also says ths appointment time is 00:00. Is that an error or doesn't the time really matter? Should she just show up early and wait in line? We heard they process people on a first come first served basis but what is the best time to turn up for the medical appointment? My fiance heard that if you turn up at 3am there are already many people waiting in line and then you have long wait before they even open. What happens if you go at 6am or 7am - how long would you spend waiting to be processed then? The whole system sounds totally ridiculous and unnecessary forcing people to wait around like this. I'm talking about the medical appointment here not the Embassy - one kind of expects the wait there to be horrendous though again it's difficult to believe that someone couldn't come up with a more efficient system.

Regarding your list - where is this normally visible? Isn't the timeline on visajourney supposed to be offering the same kind of thing? If it is why cannot I enter my latest informatiion in the timeline - I don't see how can edit the page anymore. What's up with that?

Marlene has been making sinigang about once a week or so ... until recently ... they haven't had the long skinny green beans at the asian store for some time now.
