Manila Embassy Interview

Hello everyone,

I've been visiting this site for quite sometime now. I found it really helpful and very informative. Hope I could make some friends over here while waiting for my husband to come here in the U.S. Can somebody please add me to the list. Too bad there's not too many of us here that are doing CR/IR-1. Is there anyone here knows how much time do i have to wait till he gets here. Im still waiting for them to send the Immigrant Visa Fee Bill it was been generated last May 1st and was still waiting for that one too!!! I know its really hard to tell cause there's nobody here i could compare my case to! Guess I'll just sit here and wait some more!

Don't worry, i'll be waiting for awhile. People at the NSO in Manila do nothing fast, they said they would send my fiancee's BC back to the LR for over 3 weeks now and they haven't. They keep saying "oh, we will send it tomorrow maybe" Very annoying for us cause we are just waiting on them so we can get a new interivew date. We've tried to explain that but they really don't care We were hoping for August but i don't see that happening now Hehe, always bad news!

Hey wind, once your fiance gets the BC, you don’t have to wait for August interview. You may want to send a fax to the embassy to inform them that she is now ready for the interview and if they could set a new interview date already. I’m sure the embassy will queue her ahead once they receive your request. You’ve done time already by waiting to be scheduled in February, it just so happened she wasn’t ready with her documents. Remember though that embassy won’t probably inform you once they approve your request. What you can do is to check the interview schedule in their website every now and then. If I remember correctly, this was how john_and_marlene found out that their request for a medical expedite was approved.

how does the payment for the visa work? my fiancee pays at a bank and they stamp the ds-156 or 157? or do they give her a seperate stamp?
also has anyone ever been turn down for not using the barcode printed out version of the ds-156/157? It is fine to just fill out the forms the embassy sent right?

also i have to add that i think this is one of the most reliable threads for information because it is more focused than other threads and people usually only speak from experience. Plus we have a great moderator (PW) :-)

Regarding your question, the bank “machine-validates” the back of the DS-157 form. The bank uses the DS forms that they have with them. My DS-157 did not have a bar code. I believe you are talking of IR-CR cases where they have to have a bar code generated for some of their forms.

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are gathering all documents needed for the interview. We would like to know the following:

1. How many copies of the I-134 do you need to have notarized?

2. Do you need originals of the paystubs and tax returns or will duplicate copies do?

Would appreciate your advise.

1) only one is mandatory, but go ahead and print out a copy and get it notorized as well (it won't cost you any extra, and you will have a backup just in case something happens to the first one. However from everything i have read financial information should be dated within 3 months of interview, but i would probably try to be under 2 months if i were you. both for i-134 and for paystubs.

2) duplicates are fine and they do not have to be notorized. rememember 2003,2004, and 2005 tax returns required, along with the W-2's from those years.

Also might consider getting a 2nd letter of intent to marry notorized while you are already at notary ( totally optional)

PS - i would go ahead and try to get a 2nd letter from employer for job verification, just as backup. I had a scare myself with using fedex to send to cavite in philippines. although sending through USPS went ok to her address, for some reason FEDEX couldn't find it and she had to go pick it up, but it was half of day of panic when it said delivered but my fiancee said she didn't have it.

Ryecatcher25, thanks a lot for the information. It is a big help. If things go well my fiance will bring the documents with him when he comes to Manila just before my interview. I don't think I can handle any more stress associated with a lost package just before the interview.
